Rujak Aceh, Waves, and Green Coconut |
Eating seafood by the sea? Ah, maybe that's normal. Although seafood restaurants can be found anywhere, even in places far from the sea, the existence of seafood restaurants on the beach feels right.
Seafood restaurants on the beach confirm the taste of the food and atmosphere. Visitors can eat fish, squid, crabs, and various other types of seafood while staring at the ocean in which there are millions of tons of fish, squid, and so on.
Our choice fell to Pondok Rujak Kakuci located on Jalan Darussalam, Ujong Blang, Lhokseumawe, Aceh.
Rujak is a typical Indonesian food made consisting of various types of fruits such as mango, guava, green banana, papaya, pineapple, cucumber, yam, kuini (shape and color like mango but tastes different), sapodilla, kedondong, and various types other fruits.
Acehnese people refer to rujak as lincah. Generally, Aceh’s rujak uses young sago palm fruit. The taste of salad everywhere in Indonesia is almost the same because it is made from the same fruits.
The difference is the seasoning used. Every region in Indonesia has its own seasonings so it tastes different. There are also areas that make rujak with a mixture of cuts of meat and vegetables, such as cingur rujak in Surabaya, East Java. I once ate cingur rujak and the taste did not match my tongue which was accustomed to the sweet Aceh rujak.
For spices, Aceh salad uses sweets, water, a little salt, crushed fried peanuts, and palm sugar. For those who like spicy or don't like spicy, have to remind from the beginning. So, the spicy level can be ordered according to taste.
I who do not like spicy, just ask for one small chili as a complement. This chili is finely ground and mixed with herbs. My friend from Jakarta, who likes spicy, asked for five small chilies. Wow, I imagine it will definitely make his tongue burn.
For drinks, we agreed to order a green head with soft flesh and sweet water. Drinking young coconut or green coconut on the beach is certainly very impressive. The air feels fresh, food and drinks feel fresh. While talking about various topics, we spent the Aceh rujak and young chief water.
Pondok Rujak Kakuci and most restaurants on the edge of Ujong Blang Beach are not fancy places. The place was built very simply, the roof was made of thatched leaves and the floor was in the form of sand. But, that's what evokes a natural impression when enjoying food and drinks on the beach.
Although named Pondok Rujak, most restaurants on the edge of the Ujong Blang beach also provide seafood, including at Kakuci. Here are also available various noodles with a mixture of shrimp, crab, or egg.
There is also seafood fried rice, egg fried rice, shrimp fried rice, or chicken fried rice, or fried potatoes. So, the choices are more even though we still choose rujak; it’s feels as great as the waves.[]
