FOR the fifth time, the Literary Festival was held with great fanfare in the Hall of the ACC Building, Uteunkot Campus, Malikussaleh University, 27-28 December 2022. For an activity managed by students whose committee keeps changing, this is an achievement in itself, especially considering the age of the Teacher Training Faculty Literature Student Association. and Education Sciences are relatively young compared to student associations from other study programs.

This year, there is something different from the previous four events. Apart from being held at the end of the year with more audience involvement, there are also more types of events being held.

Drama lecturer, Reza Pahlevi Ginting M.Pd, admitted that he wanted to make changes compared to similar events in previous years. "From the information I got, previous years there were no spectators because it was entering the end of the semester or the beginning of the semester," he said in Lhokseumawe, Monday (26/12/2022).

Without the presence of an audience, an art performance loses its spirit. So, the timing of the show is crucial. In fact, if you look at the academic calendar, the end of the year is not the right time for an event. Many students return home towards the end of the semester, and the end is full of various other agendas that keep people busy.

It was also very difficult to get budget support at the end of the year, both from sponsors and from the internal environment. This condition should be the concern of students and supporting lecturers so that they prepare the Festival of Literature in advance and adjust it to the budget period.

These various unfavorable conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm of the activists of the Malikussaleh University Literature Student Association (Himasa). With various efforts and support from sponsors, finally, the 5th Literary Festival can be held," said Reza Pahlevi Ginting.

Art performances that were held by students in the 5th Literature Festival included Eng Ong TV, drama, musical poetry, monologues, and screenings of a number of films. This year, three films will be shown, namely for group A1 entitled "Dream House", A2 entitled "Riyeuk", and A3 entitled "Jaka Tarub and 7 Bidadari". The films shown are original works by language students at Malikussaleh University.

The 5th Literary Festival also features theaters of three classes. For A1 it is entitled "A Little Letter to God", for A2 it is entitled "Toentong Gapu", and for A3 it is entitled "Atu Belah Atu Betangkup". Meanwhile, for the monologue, the students performed three monologue works. Group A1 presented a monologue entitled Schizophrenia, A2 entitled "Mata Luka Sengkon Karta", and class A3 entitled "Topeng-Topeng".

From the theatrical performance, it can be seen that there are several fundamental weaknesses such as the script which is still in a monotonous plot, the placement of props that actually interferes with the audience's view (blocking), articulation, and the dialogue between the players and the narrator that is often overwritten. With inadequate facilities and short preparations, these weaknesses are understandable, even though participating in competitions, these fundamental weaknesses can reduce the judgment.

Reza Pahlevi also reminded me that the placement of players and properties was still not right. Should be able to be placed at a point closer to the edge of the stage.

Head of the Literature Student Association (Himasa) of Malikussaleh University, Misbahul Munir, said that the Literary Performance is a routine activity that they hold every year. This year it was held with the theme "Colors of Literary Creativity" which involved students and alumni of the Faculty of Teaching and Education, {Universitas Malikussaleh](news.unimal.ac.id).

"The Literary Festival aims to hone student creativity in order to preserve a culture of art appreciation. Through this show, it is hoped that lovers can hone their creativity," said Misbahul Munir after the event, Wednesday (28/12/2022).

According to him, the 5th Literary Festival was held to apply for the Drama course and as a talent competition, especially in the theatrical and film fields for students taking MK Drama.

The head of the committee, Azman Rinaldi, revealed that in about two months' time, the committee tried to prepare everything for the success of the 5th Literary Festival. This activity is a pride that can make students explore their potential.

"Apart from involving Unimal students, it is projected that this activity will also involve a community of literary activists from outside the campus, including people who are active in the theatrical field, and enthusiastic about artistic activities," said Azman.

Ulfha Rahmah from the Abang Theater Community said the Literary Festival-5 was an interesting event for students and the general public, amidst the lack of art events in Lhokseumawe and North Aceh. "Campus and the government, especially the Department of Education and Culture, are obliged to support this event," said Ulfha who watched the event for two full days.

The Dean of the Teaching and Education Faculty of Malikussaleh University, Dr. Azhari, hopes that future Literature Festival activities can be prepared earlier.

Despite the various shortcomings, the 5th Literature Festival is a moment to revive stage art activities that have long been submerged due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as being a medium for channeling the artistic talents of students, alumni and other younger generations. [Ayi Jufridar]

Pesta Sastra, Geliat Seni Mahasiswa di Pengujung Tahun

UNTUK kelima kalinya, Pesta Sastra digelar dengan meriah di Aula Gedung ACC Kampus Uteunkot Universitas Malikussaleh, 27 – 28 Desember 2022. Bagi sebuah kegiatan yang dikelola mahasiswa yang kepanitiaannya terus berganti, ini menjadi sebuah prestasi tersendiri, apalagi jika mengingat usia Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan relatif muda dibandingkan dengan himpunan mahasiswa dari program studi lainnya.

Tahun ini, ada yang berbeda dengan keempat acara sebelumnya. Selain digelar akhir tahun dengan keterlibatan penonton yang lebih banyak, acara yang digelar juga lebih banyak jenisnya.

Dosen pengampu mata kuliah Drama, Reza Pahlevi Ginting M.Pd, mengaku ingin membuat perubahan dibandingkan dengan acara serupa tahun-tahun sebelumnya. “Dari informasi yang saya peroleh, tahun-tahun sebelumnya sepi penonton karena sudah memasuki akhir semester atau awal semester,” ungkapnya di Lhokseumawe, Senin (26/12/2022).

Tanpa kehadiran penonton, sebuah pertunjukan seni memang kehilangan ruhnya. Jadi, pemilihan waktu pertunjukan sangat menentukan. Bahkan, jika melihat kalender akademik, akhir tahun bukan waktu yang tepat untuk sebuah acara. Mahasiswa banyak yang pulang kampung menjelang akhir semester, dan akhir penuh dengan berbagai agenda lain yang membuat orang memiliki kesibukan sendiri.

Mendapat dukungan anggaran juga sangat sulit di akhir tahun, baik dari kalangan sponsor lebih-lebih dari lingkungan internal. Kondisi ini harus menjadi perhatian mahasiswa dan dosen pengampu agar menyiapkan Pesta Sastra jauh-jauh hari serta menyesuaikan dengan masa anggaran.

Berbagai kondisi yang serba tidak mendukung tersebut, tidak menyurutkan semangat pegiat Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra (Himasa) Universitas Malikussaleh. Dengan berbagai upaya dan dukungan dari pihak sponsor, akhirnya Pesta Sastra-5 bisa terlaksana,” ungkap Reza Pahlevi Ginting.

Pertunjukan seni yang digelar mahasiswa dalam Pesta Sastra-5 adalah TV Eng Ong, drama, musikalisasi puisi, monolog, dan pemutaran sejumlah film. Tahun ini, untuk pementasan film ada tiga yang akan ditayangkan, yaitu untuk kelompok A1 berjudul “Rumah Impian”, A2 berjudul “Riyeuk”, dan A3 berjudul “Jaka Tarub dan 7 Bidadari”. Film-film yang ditayangkan merupakan karya asli mahasiswa Bahasa di Universitas Malikussaleh.

Pesta Sastra-5 juga menampilkan teater dari tiga kelas. Untuk A1 berjudul “Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan”, A2 dengan judul “Toentong Gapu”, dan untuk A3 berjudul “Atu Belah Atu Betangkup”. Sementara untuk monolog dari mahasiswa mempertunjukan tiga karya monolog. Kelompok A1 menampilkan monolog berjudul Skizofrenita, A2 berjudul “Mata Luka Sengkon Karta”, dan kelas A3 berjudul “Topeng-Topeng”.

Dari penampilan teater, terlihat ada beberapa kelemahan mendasar seperti naskah yang masih alur masih monoton, penempatan properti yang justru mengganggu pandangan penonton (blocking), artikulasi, serta dialog pemain yang sering tertimpa dengan narator. Dengan fasilitas yang belum memadai dan persiapan singkat, berbagai kelemahan itu bisa dimaklumi, walau untuk mengikuti perlombaan, kelemahan mendasar itu bisa mengurangi penilaian.

Reza Pahlevi juga mengingatkan penempatan pemain dan properti masih belum tepat. Harusnya bisa ditempatkan di titik yang lebih dekat dengan bibir panggung.

Ketua Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra (Himasa) Universitas Malikussaleh, Misbahul Munir, menyebutkan Pentas Sastra merupakan kegiatan rutin yang mereka gelar saban tahun. Untuk tahun ini digelar dengan tema “Warna-Warni Kreativitas Sastra” yang melibatkan mahasiswa serta alumni Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Malikussaleh.

“Pesta Sastra bertujuan untuk mengasah kreativitas mahasiswa guna melestarikan budaya apresiasi seni. Melalui pertunjukan ini diharapkan para pecinta bisa mengasah kreativitasnya,” ujar Misbahul Munir seusai acara, Rabu (28/12/2022).

Menurutnya, Pesta Sastra-5 diselenggarakan demi mengaplikasikan mata kuliah Drama dan sebagai ajang adu bakat khususnya dalam bidang teatrikal dan perfilman bagi mahasiswa yang mengambil MK Drama.

Ketua panitia, Azman Rinaldi, mengungkapkan bahwa dengan waktu sekitar dua bulan, panitia berusaha mempersiapkan segala hal demi menyukseskan Pesta Sastra-5. Kegiatan ini menjadi kebanggaan tersendiri yang dapat membuat mahasiswa menggali potensi diri.

“Selain melibatkan mahasiswa Unimal, kegiatan ini juga diproyeksikan akan melibatkan komunitas pegiat sastra dari luar kampus, termasuk masyarakat yang aktif dalam bidang teatrikal, dan antusias dalam kegiatan seni,” papar Azman.

Ulfha Rahmah dari Komunitas Teater Abang menyebutkan Pesta Sastra-5 adalah acara yang menarik untuk kalangan mahasiswa dan masyarakat umum, di tengah minimnya acara seni di Lhokseumawe dan Aceh Utara. “Kampus dan pemerintah, terutama Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, wajib mendukung acara ini,” kata Ulfha yang menyaksikan acara tersebut selama dua hari penuh.

Dekan Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Malikussaleh, Dr Azhari, mengharapkan kegiatan Pesta Sastra ke depan bisa dipersiapkan lebih awal.

Terlepas dari berbagai kekurangan, Pesta Sastra-5 menjadi sebuah momen untuk menggeliatkan kembali kegiatan seni panggung yang sudah lama tenggelam akibat pandemi Covid-19, selain menjadi media penyaluran bakat seni mahasiswa, alumni, dan generasi muda lainnya. [Ayi Jufridar]
