HISTORY. Laboratory people.

Josef Mengele heard all about the terrible experiments of the "angel of death" of the Nazi physician Josef Mengele. I will tell you about less known, but no less terrible experiments on people.

Experiment with nurses

People tend to listen to authorities. It is a fact. But the fact is that not all realize how far this inclination extends. But how much, in 1966, found out for himself psychiatrist Charles Hofling.

For this purpose, he phoned the sister stations in hospitals and, introducing himself as one of the doctors, instructed the nurses to inject patients with 20 mg of a potent drug called Astroten. This is twice the norm for a person - 10 mg. Twenty-one of the 22 nurses obediently obeyed the instructions of a (unfamiliar to them!) Doctor, despite the fact that they were all well aware of the mortal danger to the patients.

In more than a visual way, Hofling proved the propensity of the vast majority of people to listen to the opinion of authorities, even if it clearly contradicts common sense. Fortunately, everything ended well: the patients were not injured - the nurses were stopped in time.

Shock, LSD and hallucinogenic mushrooms

Loretta Bender is an American psychiatrist, famous for inventing a visually-motorized gestalt test, which doctors use to this day. But Bender's contribution lay through the thorns - experiments on children with schizophrenia.

Working at the Bellview Clinic in the 1940s and trying to find ways to deal with this ailment, Loretta exposed the children to shock therapy. In total, 98 children were subjected to a cruel experiment, who were regularly forced to take LSD and hallucinogenic fungi. This "treatment" made the already unhappy children completely insane.

If one of the children had a temporary relief and their condition was "not enough heavy," the doses of narcotic substances increased.

The psychiatrist said that such measures helped most children and only a few of them subsequently experienced a relapse.

They waited

A simple injection of penicillin could save hundreds and even thousands of people in the city of Tuskegee, Alabama, in the USA. From 1932 to 1972, about 400 poor farmers infected with syphilis took part in the experiment. For this they were promised free treatment.

Already in 1947 an inexpensive and easy way was found to heal them all - with the help of regular injections of penicillin. But the experimenters intentionally concealed this fact to study how the disease proceeds in the human body. As a result, the "subjects" infected their wives and children, and many did not even have time to live up to the coveted treatment.

Order 731

The second world turned out to be a fertile field for all kinds of villainy, including sophisticated experiments on people that no one would allow in peacetime. But few people know that, in addition to the famous experiments of the Nazis, terrible experiments were also put by the Japanese - over Chinese prisoners of war.

As part of the sophistication and cruelty of the Japanese are unlikely to be inferior to the Nazis. They cut off the limbs of prisoners of war of Chinese soldiers, causing gangrene formation, and then conducted vivisection, that is, surgical experiments on living people. They threw off bombs on China, which were stuffed with plague fleas, watching the spread of cholera and typhus.

In charge of these affairs, the so-called "Detachment 731". For 12 years, he conducted experiments to test bacteriological weapons on the living population. They say that it was quite common for these guys to shove a person into a pressure cooker, and then watch if his eyes pop out of him or not.

Experiment on sex change

One day, the family of Reimer knocked on the study of the famous psychologist John Mani. Their son Bruce made an unsuccessful circumcision and seriously damaged his penis. Without thinking twice, the doctor suggested changing the child to sex. Which was done.

Mani believed that the sex role identity of boys and girls is affected solely by the social environment, stereotypes, upbringing, etc. As a result, Bruce became Brenda, he was given hormonal drugs and brought up as a girl. In adolescence, Brenda learned the terrible truth about herself. From that day, a long rehabilitation of Brenda began, which again became a man, taking the name David. Indeed, the life-loving David managed to create a family and even adopted four children. But the story, alas, became known to the whole world. Not coping with the depression, David's wife left the family, he himself committed suicide.
