Dick Gregory, truth teller
If you don’t know who Dick Gregory is, you should research this man. Listen to some of his talks. This man is one of the great philosophers of our time in my opinion. Comedians are the great truth tellers in our society. They tell you the shit you might not want to hear… And make you smile while they do it. Think about that. How great is that?
He was so much more than a great comedian. When he speaks… he makes you think. If you research him, you’ll find that he was part of the civil rights movement of the 60’s along side MLK. He even ran for President in 1968. If you listen to many of his talks you’ll see that all he does is look at all sides of the stories we are told, then apply a little common sense. Many of the things he talks about are heavy on the “conspiracy theory” side… If you want to label it that. All of the evil shit that the power systems of this world do, I’d say these ideas are hardly theory.
I think for me personally I found his talks somewhat reassuring. "It's a game man, that's what this about", you'll hear him say frequently. Although I am not much for religion, I do feel some larger force exists in this Universe. The Scientific view that everything is random is simplistic and arrogant to me… given what we understand of the Universe is minuscule. I see organized religion in much the same way I see government, another control system. Dick Gregory often talks about something he calls the Universal god. What I get from this idea is: being aligned with the universe for the power of good. He talks about so much of the corruption done by “thugs” in positions of power.
He was one of the great humans on this earth in my opinion. I wish we had more like him. If you’ve never listened to him check him out. He will live on thru his work.
