Japanese Macaque 🐒

in #animals9 years ago

A Japanese macaque is an old monkey species which is native to Japan. It is also called the snow monkey. They are known as the the snow monkey because they stay in regions that are cold, where there is heavy snowfall. The female's lifespan is usually 6 years, in the wild. The male's lifespan is usually 27 years in captivity. They are omnivorous animals and eat a variety of different foods. They commonly eat insects, soil, bark and fruits. I find them so unique. They have brown fur, mixed with a bit of white fur and red faces.

i love monkeys! i can tame wild ones.. sometimes!
i wonder why is the life span of wild monkeys SO much less than in captive.. is this because they just get killed in fights or something else?

thanks!
