The Delicious Milky Way

in #photofeed8 years ago

So this was taken at a previously referenced Mattole Beach, on the northern coast of California. It was an incredibly rugged beach, with Patagonia-esque landscape. Fortunately, we were treated to a fantastic night sky the day we camped there, and thankfully I had the (somehow) mental and (somehow) physical fortitude to wake up and take some astro shots. Living in Ohio really makes you miss the incredible night sky in other areas (where light pollution doesn't play near as much of a factor). Oh well. Thankfully, I just bought some plane tickets for my family and I, so we get to head to Denver area in a few months. Really hoping I can find a few good places to take a few star shots away from the city...if not, the landscapes out there are still quite an improvement from the cornfields I'm used to here, ha.

Standing on the edge of the forest he looked to the sky. The heavens opened above him, showing him its full splendor. He imagined himself joining his father one day, but until he completed the trials it was impossible. Such was his birthright. Some days it felt like a curse to be Hercules.

Hey, I just watched the Disney movie about him last week!
Thanks for the story, man. Always love reading them!

It's always amazing to see that kind of photos ! Awesome shot !!

Thanks very much @tomlabe!

So beautiful! I never tire of delicious Milky Way shots!I can't wait to see what you manage to capture in/around Denver!

Haha, same! I've seen more than my share of Milky Way shots, and it always amazes me. And thank you! I can't wait until I'm out there again. Only a few short months.

Nicely done! Love that Rokinon 24, eh? :D

You bet your bottom and it's dollar.

I don't know if that means what you think it means?

You know, I'm not sure! But what good is the internet if you can't loosely paraphrase common phrases?

I love me some caramel, nougat, and exploding hydrogen and helium. Superb.

Mmhmm, don't get me hungry and anxious for travel! Two combos you don't want.

Great MW shot! Very crisp stars!

Thanks man. I sure do love crunchy stars!

Great image! I love milky way shots ;) The Rokinon lenses are perfect for astroshots. I used the Rokinon 14mm /2.8

Ah nice! I've had this one for a few years, and I freaking love it. I have kind of wanted to branch out a little wider with a good f-stop, and have eyed that 14mm for quite a while.

Amazing shot! I wish I could ever see such a beautiful cosmic view :)

Thank you! And in real life it isn't this clear, but you can still see it. With the right camera though, you can bring it to life.

Great capture and really good processing!!
