My Neighborhood Watch #86 - Reporting Events Around us ||A criminal caught, beaten and set ablaze by angry mob
A criminal caught stealing, beaten and set ablaze by an angry mob: Eye withness account.
In early hours of today, I heard shouts and crying voices on the street. I waited for several minuites as I was preparing to go to work. The shouts and voices were rising at every second that I could no longer stand it anymore. Lo and behold, it was a thief! A thief at this early morning? I asked! By the time I got to the scene, people had already taken to their heels and the street immediately deserted. More closer and discovered that had already been set ablaze by the angry mob.
Security, security ,security !!! was ringing in my mind. The need to have adequate security for lives and properties can not be overemphasized.
Having a well security architecture would enable security agencies to carry out their constitutional role of protecting lives and properties. They work round the clock to ensure that there is peace and security in the land. But in some areas, there may not be enough presence of security to cover the areas. This leaves the men of the underworld to take advantage of the security loopholes and commit all sought of crimes.
In some areas, people can not sleep with their two eyes closed and walk freely in the street. In such areas, there are fears and tensions as these “men” terrifies people in the early hours to late in the evening to night hours.
In early morning hours of today, a thief was caught in this street. Reports have it have it that they were five in number that came to steal machines phones, four escaped and one caught and set ablaze by an angry mob. They stated that have suffered so much in the hands of the criminals and lameted the loses that they have suffered.
One of the hoodlums could not escape and so was caught, mercilessly beaten up and, was set on fire by the angry mob.
The street is now scanty. Shops are closed and there is no much movement. The reason to this is that, the people living in the street and in other adjoining streets, are afraid of the police may come around at any unexpected time to.make massive arrest. So people are no longer seen walking along the street and many shops are locked, still for the same reason of the fear of running imto the hands of the police.
Sometimes, I begin to imagin how someone could make up his mind to decide that, he would engage in criminal acts of forcefuly taking people's had earned money, properties or other items. The times a hard now for people to make ends meet. They go out in the morning and come back late in the evening just to ensure that they survive by puting food on the table. They labor so hard to take care of their children, train them, pay house rents and shops or offices. Now as they go through all these struggles in life, somebody from somewhere comes in and forcefuly take the belongings that enables them to sustatain themselves and their families. There is an extent to which people may not be able to endure the pains from the loss of belongings to the criminals and then decides to take laws into their to deal with the criminal even to the point of killing.
Again, just as has been emphasized, this calls for the need to step up policing in under policed areas. Nothing thrives where there is no security. Businesses in the have started shuting as shops are not opening to sell their goods.
Finally, I believe that if there were adequate security posts in the area, the people may not be able to take laws into their hands by setting the criminal ablaze.
While it is not right for people to take laws in their hands, this would serve as a deterence to others who have the mindset of criminaly and forcefuly taking people's sweated belingings.

I was against jungle justice but after passing through pain of what thief's did to our house I don't feel pity for any thief when they are caught. Good for the escape goat it may be his first time ooo who knows?
