Bouldering
Just a quick little video of bouldering adventures. I love bouldering so much... I wish I was so much better at it and that I had a lot more access to a bouldering gym... but I enjoy the time I do get to spend.
Bouldering is great for Ninja Warrior training... it definitely helps strengthen your grip and forearms, but most importantly, it helps you learn about efficient body movement and the physics of leverage, weight transference, angles, etc etc that is so important when trying to conquer obstacles. You can be as strong as an ox, but if you don't know how to move your body that strength is of no use.
Thanks for watching!

Dynos and that other thing where you were scrabbling with just hands was nuts! XD (and also as far as I got, managed to get most of the way through this time with a lot of buffering before the video started playing silly buggers again) I could only do the half things once upon a time. Probably not so much these days, I'm pissweak now.
When you were doing the climby bit at the beginning there were a couple of points where I was internally shrieking NUUUUUUUUUU DON'T CROSS. But you got over XD Ahh those underside walls bring back memories from about a million years ago last time I went indoor rock climbing. And @pixietrix just asked if we could go as she seems to think she'll be able to handle the upside down bits now (I'm sure she will if she doesn't spend all the time flipping on the mats instead XD).
Oh dtube!
I know... it's such a bad habit. I don't usually cross over my hands or my feet... I'm usually very methodical but I was rushing that first bit because I was videoing it and I didn't want everyone to be bored... but yeah, the crosses are the best way to barndoor your way off the rocks.
Hahahaha, I still spend a lot of time flipping on the mats... why wouldn't you? When else do you have access to such soft surroundings!
Also, you'll get it back much quicker than a newbie... so you can always jump back in.
Grass is soft! XD
I could, but then I'd have to drop something else :< [is not very good at juggling] XD
Nice video! Way to be back at it right after christmas! That's absolutely going to help with your grip strength. I've only ever got to do rock climbing a handful of times and my forarms were usually dead by the end of my sessions.
My forearms were so super pumpy... I have to admit that I enjoy bouldering a lot more than rock climbing... I still get stupidly nervous at the higher end of the rock climbing route... whereas bouldering I only ever get nervous topping out.
I used to boulder a lot more... and haven't since I moved to the country... and definitely noticed a decrease in grip strength. I've now put up a hangboard and some holds... but they are more like doing exercises than just climbing around for fun.
I believe it. Grip strength is so hard to keep up. I just google hangboards and I've never seen those before. They look very functional, but I agree, it doesn't look nearly as much fun as climbing around.
Yeah, I've had one up for a couple of months now... and used it like twice. Kills the hands and it's fun at all... but it's good for me. Climbing is just so much more fun... and a lot more social. Climbing with a buddy or two is so much fun.
I agree. It's always fun to do activities with friends. And it also encourages you to go harder and longer as well. I kind of want to go climbing again lol
Wow. I love these videos that give us a little sneak peek into what your workouts look like! Those dynos look super hard! That like plosive strength in your legs and arms is awesome! You also flow so easily from one rock to the next when you're campusing. I had never really heard these terms before, but I have also never done any rock climbing. I am going to be living vicariously through your videos for a while, so keep 'em coming! :)
Hahaha, I will happily keep 'em coming! Even d.tube was mostly behaving today.
I love campusing (not using your feet at all)... I feel super strong and a total showoff... even though I'm mainly trying really hard not to fall. I once saw a dude campus up like 50 feet... so that's my eventual goal. I think for January goals I'm going to have to add in a bouldering component to work on.
Dynos just freak me the hell out. Grrrr.
I'll just keep grinding away at them...
