Hackers, stop wasting your time!

I was surprised to see how many failed login attempts there were on one of my exchange wallet.

I use VERY HIGH security principles to protect my digital gold. If you follow my 10 principles. You intangible coins will stay safe.

1- Never put all your funds in 1 wallet address no matter how secure it is.

2- Never let your money sleeps on an exchange. You have to control your private keys

3- Use a very strong password (My exchanges passwords have at least 16 complex characters while my wallet's password have 22 characters)

4- use a dedicated computer to trade Cryptocurrencies.

5- Use a less popular computer operating system (Spyware usually target popular ones).
I use Qubes OS Linux (recommended by Edward Snowden) to manage somes of my wallets.

6- Use a hardware wallet when they support your coins.

7- If you want to backup your recovery phrases into the cloud, you can use a software like boxcryptor wich encrypts your files before sending them to Dropbox or Google drive.

8- Enable two-factor authentication on all your online accounts whenever you can.

9- Generate your wallet address with the official wallet using Linux.

10- Avoid mobile phone wallets for huge amounts.

Thanks for posting. This is a useful resource.

Hi there, I am a complete novice with I.T. and Cryptocurrencies but I am interested in buying around £500-£1000 worth of Bitcoin. Your post has concerned me as Im not sure I would know how to Install or understand the formats/software you advise. can you advise me on how to start out please?

For novice, the best advices are :

  • use a hardware wallet like trezor or Ledger Nano S
  • enable 2 factor (with google authentificator) on all your online accounts
  • don't leave your cryptos on an exchange like bittrex or coinbase
  • use simple software wallet like Exodus (www.exodus.io)
  • Use a very strong password

If you need more help. Just google it

you are giving too much away by saying how many characters there are in your password

I said "at least" 16 characters. Yes my desktop wallet has 22 COMPLEX characters. That doesn't help too much
