Steem Cartoon : Lets Paint a Manga
Have you ever thought how fantasy comic of Malays Warriors would look like if given a manga look. This posting I am going to attempt this with an illustration of a cover.
First we start with sketch and line art by using the photoshop software. The rotation of the camera is so that I will get a more epic shot.
Now we use a flat colour to choose the middle colour so that it becomes easy to create shadow and lighting. I will include texture on the cloth of the main character so that we can see variance of texture on the character's clothings.
You can now see the process of rough colour where I will start with hard brush so that I get a colour guide. Then I will match the right colour and I will use a softbrush to blend those colours.
On the wrinkles I will use the same techniques that I use to find the lighting and shadow first before I start with the blending.
This process can save time because I m using the technique called blending. Its effective for time saving.
The technique that I use is rendering and it does not need details because it will not affect the quality of line art in this drawing.
After completion of this process on all the characters we now shift to the background. For this part I will create a horizonline by using gradient tool from light blue to dark blue. On the clouds I will use the normal brush for cloud formation.
On the part of rendering for the clouds, I will use hard brush to get the right shadow colour. You can now use hue saturation to find the right colour range for this printing.
You can now see the completed work and the rendering that is done.
Here I include the process of completing the paddy field by using the flat brush and by getting the right stroke on the leaves of the paddy plants.
Now you have it, a malay warrior manga style with an epic shot. Definitely not something you can find on the internet.

This is great. The guy in the red bandanna has a definite One Piece vibe to him.
That's what I thought too.
haha tq @jcayne and @creativetruth undeniable the original artist from this graphic novel book has influenced stroke by one peace. I am just following his stroke as a cover artist.
I always wondered how to "paint" digitally and your explanation was very illustrative to me. I'm not an artist, but I had the curiosity.
Thank You @danielfs... I really enjoy to sharing it and get the feedback from the readers...
tqvm for reading...
Looks beautiful. I saved most of these images to refer back to for reference and inspiration. I have very little color experience and this is very much the look I’d like to achieve. Thanks for showing it!
Thanks @bryan-imhoff I really appreciate it.
Looks like they are malay traveller seeking for adventure
