Ragtag Garden, Part 12

in #gardening7 years ago

In the last update, I was speculating whether the biggest zucchini plant had a blossom.

It WAS a blossom and it opened today! AND, there is a second blossom that will be fully open by tomorrow. I never expected them to bloom this fast!

I finally got a decent picture to show how tall the peas are getting. I'm already plotting where the next level of twine needs to go. A few more days should confirm my hunch.

I held off on the usual array of pictures as those plants haven't changed much. That's good news for the cabbage and brussels sprouts. I gave everything a good dusting of Diatemaceous Earth at dusk. It's supposed to be clear and calm tonight, so the D.E. should stay in place all night. I haven't won the battle yet, but the earwigs aren't anymore either!

Awesome, your garden is doing better than mine!

Thanks! I hope yours perks up.

If your blossom drops, don't fret, it's very common with the first blooms. Everything is looking so gorgeous! Go green thumb go!

Ooooh, thanks for the heads up. I forgot they do that sometimes.

I know I freaked out the first time it happened lol

Yup, that would have been me.

ooh glorious! a BLOOM!!! im so happy!!!

I know! I was so tickled to see it actually open... I didn't expect it til at least tomorrow.
The waiting pays off... yay!

They're still tiny plant but one got flowers now, so advanced! :)

I just planted a little seed, and it sprouted a week ago. I am so excited to see it grow. We have a fish pond out back, and we use the fish pond water for the little guy.

Oh I'll bet it likes it that! That's a good high nutrient resource for it. So fun to watch them go from seed to mature plant. Never gets old.

I do love homegrown peas, I would be pinching them whilst there growing :)

I'll bet you could have a small crop on trellis. Since they go up, they wouldn't need much room.

My zucchinis had a fair amount of flowers that all fell off, now they're starting to bloom again. I think that in the case of my plants, it was probably transplant shock.

Glad to hear they're blooming again.

It definitely would have caused concern if I wasn't prepared for the possibility.

Nice bro your's peas are really growing well

welcome will you plz check my latest post and tell me about my errors if there are any, i really appreciate that

That's great garden. I one day want to grow my own food as well. I don't want a garden full of pretty flowers. I would much prefer organic homegrown foods.

Thanks! This is a last-minute, thrown together experiment, but so far, so good...

Agreed on the chemical stuff. Nasty!

Always exciting to see blossoms. I love planting squash and seeing those first flowers.

Yup! Squash flowers are neat... so big and bright... they just scream SUMMERTIME! Lol!
