A Walk in the Park: Photographic Short Stories, Volume XIV
The Swampy Nature Preserve, Part 6 (The Epilogue)
After the final series of photos were captured for the previous post, my wife and I headed home. We were a bit disappointed that we didn't have enough time to complete the full trail, so we decided to return the following weekend...on bikes!
We made it the full four miles to the end of the trail. It was a cool, overcast, and windy day, so the lighting and color isn't as good as the rest of this series, but this is what we saw on our return trip...
Leading up to the last leg of the journey, we caught more glimpses of the swampiness. I can only imagine how awful this would be in the middle of the sweltering summer afternoons and early evenings, with mosquitoes, snakes, alligators, and bears lurking.
Evidence of the distance we traveled to that point.
The forest opened up into the actual swamp lands and adjacent waterway.
We continued down the trail to the final destination. Proof that we made it to the four-mile marker.
However, the grand finale to our "hike" was very disappointing, to say the least. We returned to this trail in order to see this scenic area overlooking the waterway...
And here is the amazing view from the edge of the water.
At least there was a sail boat floating by...
And some green plants...
We looked around for a few minutes and made our way back to the first clearing.
We continued exploring for a while and eventually made our way home. It was a great walk with some cool views here and there and we're likely to return when the weather is cool again. I hope you enjoyed this series at The Swampy Nature Preserve. Stay tuned for more trips to more parks!
All photos taken with my iPhone 6S.
These pictures are pictures!
They are very picture-y! Great observation!
Haha. That's funny.
I credit this photo series for the recent moon visit. Nice job @ats-david!
I will take that credit. I've been working very hard to make all of you rich.
And...your comics, too!
Can you work harder? I'm thinking a hundred per Steem would be sufficient.
I already have been. You'll see this week.
I was hoping for a gator to appear somewhere. lol : )
Nice post @ats-david !!
Seems very tranquil, the first one reminds me of those old Atari typing adventure games for some reason. 'You arrive at a swamp, you can go west and east. There is a snake on the floor'
I'm sure there were many snakes on the floor. Well, maybe not at the time, but definitely now that the weather is warmer.
Use rock on snake. Speaking of snakes are you doing papa-peppers survival game season 2? It was fun the first time around.
No. I'm working on a few things right now. The return of my contests and a new project launch will be happening this week. Keep an eye out for them!
Oh I am excited for both. I will, you pop on my home page.
You are doing well @ats-david, ordinary people can become powerful photographers if they can take advantage of every condition they encounter. The most important thing is how one sees the object of the photo, and then our brain can work to capture and record the moment / object photos well.
Good Job.
Thank you very much!
Nice post. Many mosquito bites?
None. At least...I don't think there were any. This was in February and it was in the 50s.
That is a beautiful place to walk. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us @ats-david.
