What is S.A.F.E. ???????(Ep-1)
SAFE stands for
S = Shutter A = Aperture F = Focus E = Emulsion
What is Shutter…???
Shutter is a device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film or a light-sensitive electronic sensor to light to capture a permanent image of a scene.
Parts of Shutter….
1.Shutter Curtain
2.Shutter Speed Dial
3.Shutter Release Button
4.Shutter Release Cable/ Remote Sensor
Shutter Curtain
•It is a combination of several thin metals/plastic/cloth. It moves vertically or horizontally in order to let the light fall to the film or sensor.
(In DSLR)
(In SLR)
Shutter Speed Dial
Shutter speed dial is the indicator of the duration (timing) at which the shutter curtain opens up and closes during an exposure process.
Shutter Speed
It is the duration of the curtain remains open & closes. How long the light passes through the lens & fall on the film. The basic shutter speeds are: B,30,15,8,4,2,1….1/2,1/4,1/8,1/15,1/30,1/60,1/125,1/250,1/500,1/1000,1/2000, 1/4000,1/8000 etc
*B= Brief time exposure or BULB.
To capture the moving & still subject
High Shutter Speed
High Shutter Speed…. 1/4000 sec
Slow shutter speed
Slow shutter speed at 1/ 2 sec
Panning
Slow shutter speed combined with panning the camera can achieve a motion blur for moving objects.
Shutter Release Button
The shutter release is a button that raises a shutter inside the camera for a specified amount of time to allow light to expose the film. In a SLR camera.
Aperture
Aperture is almost like our eyes Or like a window. Aperture is a hole or an opening inside a photographic lens through which light travels. The aperture stop of a photographic lens can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or image sensor.
Aperture size is usually calibrated in f-numbers or f-stops
International series of f-numbers
• …. 1.2, 1.4, 1.8, 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, 32 ….
Works of aperture…
•To control the light
•Depth of Field (DOF)
Aperture value can divided into three ways….
1. Isolation Apertures/ Singular – Theme Apertures…. Aperture Range..: f/1.4, f/2.8, f/3.2, f/4, f/5.6
2. Who Cares Apertures..! ( When subject attach with Background) Aperture Range: f/8, f/9, f/11
3. Storytelling Apertures… Aperture Range: f/16, f/18, f/22,f/32
