Pokémon GO Holidays 2021 Event Bergmite debut

The annual Holidays event in Pokémon GO has returned with a focus on Ice-type Pokémon as every year. Last year Delibird received a Holiday Costume, it will be spawning with this again. Before and after the event, throughout the Season of Heritage the Delibird without a costume is available to everyone in the northern hemisphere. I suppose in half a year this will be the case in the southern hemisphere.

The Season of Heritage story will be on a bit of a hold throughout the holidays. The event descriptions reads:

"After the first door mechanism activated and Pokémon like Druddigon emerged, Blanche and Professor Willow decide to take a break and celebrate with a gift exchange with the other team leaders!"

A new game feature, called the Postcard Book, is launching as part of the event too.

This event will be in two parts. The first is from December 16 at 10 am through Thursday December 23 at 10 am local time. That's when the 2nd part will start which goes through Friday December 31 at 8 pm local time.

I'll have a quick overview of some parts, for more in-depth you can look in the link above. I will also include the Field Research tasks with encounter rewards.

Pikachu with a Holiday Hat, Holiday Delibird, Holiday Stantler and Holiday Cubchoo will be returning that we've already seen last year. New additional costumed Pokémon this year are Holiday Spheal and Holiday Glaceon.

Spheal can be encountered in the wild, you can see one of my encounters and its stats here.

Holiday Glaceon will unfortunately only be in 3-Star Raids.

There will be some Timed Research during the 2nd part of the event, maybe Holiday Glaceon can be an encounter reward there as well. I'll wait until then. If not then I will use a daily Raid Pass to get a Holiday Glaceon from a Raid throughout the 2nd part.

It's unfortunate that Holiday Glaceon isn't appearing in the wild, as I would've loved to catch a lot of them. But I guess they wouldn't do that as you would normally have to be near a Glacial Lure Module in order to evolve an Eevee into Glaceon.

Bergmite will not make an appearance in the first part of the event, so we'll have to wait until the 23rd before it's going to make its actual debut.

Alolan Sandshrew will be in the wild during the 1st part of the event and Alolan Vulpix during the 2nd part.

Event Field Research

• Catch 5 Ice-type Pokémon: Holiday Spheal
• Open 5 Gifts: Holiday Pikachu OR Holiday Stantler OR Holiday Cubchoo
• Catch 7 different species of Pokémon: Alolan Vulpix
• Win a level 3 or higher Raid: Cryogonal
• Spin 3 PokéStops or Gyms: Swinub

There is also an Event Field Research task to take 3 snaphots of wild Ice-type Pokémon that rewards 25 Abomasnow Mega Energy.

During the second part of the event Alolan Vulpix and Cryogonal from Event Field Research will be changed with Alolan Sandshrew and Galarian Darumaka. They will possibly be the same tasks, if they're different ones I'll try to post an update about them.

Especially Delibird will be great to catch during this event as they have a 500 base Stardust per catch.
