I like the art Niantic made for this event.

The Season of Mischief came to an end at the end of November after 3 months. Since then the Season of Heritage has started which will span from December throughout February to cover 3 months as well. If you've missed Niantic's post about the Season of Heritage for a preview of what's to come and the seasonal wild spawns, make sure to check it out at https://pokemongolive.com/seasons/heritage/

In the introduction for the Season of Heritage, Professor Willow tells us the following:

"While visiting a historical cave site, I discovered a giant door equipped with a set of strange unlocking mechanisms! The team leaders and I have some hypotheses as to how to unlock it, but we’re still unsure as to what may lie beyond. Pretty exciting, wouldn’t you say?

Let’s explore this relic from the past as we ponder our own heritages! I have a feeling we’ll learn much more about this particular location over the coming months as we seek to solve these mysteries together. What can we learn from the histories of places, Pokémon, and even our fellow Trainers that will shed light on our future? Let’s GO find out!"

The first event for this Season of Heritage is an Incense Day, featuring Swinub the Pig Pokémon. As Swinub is an Ice- and Ground-type Pokémon there will be Pokémon of both types attracted to Incense.

It will be this Sunday December 5th from 11 am through 5 pm local time

This event's initial description reads:

"Trainers,

The Season of Heritage begins with...Swinub?!

Professor Willow has just discovered some mysterious ruins—and within them sits a most mysterious door. Its exceptional locking mechanisms suggest that an incredible power may be sealed within...

After intense scrutiny, Blanche has determined that the door’s first mechanism requires a vast amount of Stardust to unlock, as well as the help of both Ice-type and Ground-type Pokémon. Help Professor Willow and Blanche by catching Pokémon such as Swinub!"

Swinub will of course be attracted to Incense throughout the event.

Ice-type Pokémon attracted to Incense

These will be from 11 am to 12 pm; 1 pm to 2 and 3 pm to 4 pm.

  • Seel
  • Jynx
  • Sneasel
  • Snorunt
  • Snover
  • Vanillite
  • Galarian Darumaka (rarest spawn)

Ground-type Pokémon attracted to Incense

These will be from 12 pm to 1 pm; 2 pm to 3 pm and 4 pm to 5 pm.

  • Onix
  • Cubone
  • Rhyhorn
  • Wooper
  • Phanpy
  • Barboach
  • Larvitar (rarest spawn)

There will be an item bundle in the store for 1 PokéCoin that contains 2 Incense.

I'm not sure if Incense will last for 3 Hours like during Community Day or will just be their regular 1 Hour duration. Because there was no mention of this in the post Niantic made about it.

There will be Event-exclusive Field Research Tasks as well. No idea yet what they will be, but I assume there might be Swinub Encounter ones and probably with items rewards too.

If you evolve Swinub into Piloswine and then into Mamoswine it will learn the Charged Attack Ancient Power. A Legacy move for it that was given to it during its Community Day. This evolving has to happen during the event though unlike Community Day events. So make sure you evolve one before 5 pm local time if you want Ancient Power!

I'm curious if the Pokémon that are attracted to Incense in the event will also be spawning more in the wild. I believe last time there was an Incense Day I didn't have much time to play so I can't remember.

For me Larvitar is definitely the most interesting spawn during the Ground-type hours.

Are you looking forward to it?
