SEXTING is in vogue
Sexting is in fashion...
When we talk about sexting we are talking about sending messages or audiovisual material of a sexual or erotic nature through mobile devices.
This "fashion" is spreading more and more among young and not-so-young, but the psychologically and emotionally inexperienced are the ones most likely to fall dangerously into this practice.
Some social networks and Snapchat-like applications that promise the exchange of ephemeral messaging that "self-destructs" in a short time, have increased sexting especially among the younger population.
This phenomenon is becoming a high-risk practice as access to uncensored audiovisual material is increasingly reaching younger and younger children who, by entering this type of practice, are one step away from being victims of psychological harm due to their own immaturity, child pornography and other collateral damage.
Sending sexual messages or pictures has become a normal practice with the advancement of technology among people who already have an intimate relationship. The risk lies in the addition to the practice, in the fact that it becomes a priority in a relationship, in the practice as a prelude to infidelity or promiscuity and when it is adopted by very young people or people who are emotionally and psychologically immature to face the possible consequences of sexting.
An alarming situation in my view is reflected in a study in the UK:

If you are a frequent sexting practitioner you should keep the following in mind:
All photos sent from your device are no longer under your control.
✔ Storing photographs or videos on your mobile phone implies the risk of being spread in the event of theft or loss of the same.
✔ Real and/or virtual sexual harassment is one of the consequences of sexting. For example, the infamous case of Amanda Todd who ended up committing suicide as a victim of all kinds of harassment that were born during sexting.
✔ Avoid sexting with strangers.
✔ Sexting will never be safe or private, you should be aware of that.
✔ If you are a parent or have children in your care, do not leave your cell phone within reach to avoid exposing them.
Likewise, if you live with minors, supervise and provide guidance on the subject. There is a risk of contact with child molesters.
✔ Take into consideration that the person you are practicing with is not a potential harasser or blackmailer.
Now, not everything is bad, nor can we live in taboos. Sexting has its advantages:
✔ Sexting seduces the mind rather than the body.
✔ Helps to break the monotony in stable relationships.
✔ Encourages complicity in the couple.
✔ Encourages the imagination and is a good stimulant before having a sexual encounter.
So, sexting? Yes, but with precautions and preferably with your partner.
