Battery Technology That Will Change the World
@asrizalmustafa - In the future, what will determine is renewable energy, such as solar energy, water or wind. The most important element: energy storage technology, or battery. Here are some technologies that have been applied.
Electricity will be cleaner and cheaper
On the island of Graciosa, Portugal, its 4500 inhabitants are powered primarily from solar and wind power. The battery here is used for network stability, as well as accommodating the excess energy production. There is also a diesel generator engine, but more often it is not used. So the cost of electricity production goes down.
Salt water as heat storage
The power station in Morocco uses salt to store heat. During the day, electricity from solar energy is used to heat the tubes of salt water. At night, salt solution can produce heat, which is used to generate electricity.
Energy from the water tank
Hot storage tubes are also frequently used, such as in the Deutsche Welle building. With collectors mounted on the roof of the building, solar heat is channeled into the tank to heat the water. The hot water can be used for kitchens and bathrooms. For long-lasting heat, the tank is well insulated. In the tube there is also an electrically operated heater, in case of insufficient solar energy.
Lamps with solar electricity
About 1.5 billion people in the world live without access to electricity grids, especially in Asia and Africa. Energy-efficient LED lighting technology opens new breakthroughs, for example in Senegal: These lights use solar energy and are enough to function throughout the night. Because the price of its components dropped dramatically, solar and LED technology is also getting cheaper and affordable.
Battery technology is increasingly in demand
This battery technology is on the verge of a global boom. Especially in China, Korea and the US built large factories for the production of Lithium-Ion batteries. Battery and battery prices have also dropped dramatically. Batteries are mainly used in transportation and as local electrical suppliers.
Prices sag
During this time, the price of electric cars is very expensive because the battery technology was still expensive. But compared to 10 years ago, the price of the battery has dropped dramatically to live 10 to 20 percent price first. If first the price of batteries for electric cars with a range of 150 km about 20,000 Euros, now costs 2,500 to 3,000 Euros
It would be really helpful If the prices go down and things become cheaper, especially for developing countries. 3 days back a storm caused load shedding for 1 full day, which is really unwanted. If the electric lines and transmitters are designed to be more efficient it would be great. Besides electrical, electronics materials are also getting cheaper. But the efficiency is still low(my comment is related to third world's situation).
I appreciate your post.
