Young leaf-rolling weevil also called Apoderus Coryli
This time I found another leaf-rolling beetle. The beetle I found this time was young. The wings and some parts of his body have not developed perfectly. I found this beetle on the leaves of the cherry fruit on the back of my yard.
By observing their body shape, we can look for the name or scientific name of a beetle.
To observe this beetle I took several photos with my smartphone. by adding a macro lens to the smartphone it will produce a larger and more detailed image of this small animal.
This leaf-rolling beetle has 3 pairs of legs. The head is like a long stem with two protruding eyes. Has a short and round neck. This animal has two straight antennas located between the eyes and mouth. The wings are not fully developed. If he is mature his wings will appear dense with black spots.
The female cuts the leaf and rolls the leaf to store the egg and will be fed by the larvae.
As usual, after looking for similarities in body shape, I got the scientific name of this beetle. The scientific name is Apoderus coryli. Commonly referred to as leaf-rolling beetle.
