Inktober 2017 Personal Highlights (Part Two)
Hey guys!
I was looking back at my Inktober drawings trying to decide which I would like to share with you all and found Day 3: Poison!
This was one of the earlier ones and yet still remains one of my favorites. I LOVE drawing skulls so it was a no brain-er to include a skull in the official Inktober prompt for poison!
I felt particularly ambitious for this day seeing as I had just bought a few new bottles of ink and was itching to try them out. You may be able to tell that I used a metallic ink for the crescent moon and boy let me tell you it wasn’t what I was expecting. It was much less opaque than I thought it would be. As I recall, I think three layers was what I ended with and even then, it was still somewhat translucent and patchy. I was disappointed with the ink being Liquitex Brand and I absolutely love every other Liquitex ink I’ve used. However I still think this could work for smaller details, or with an underlying color.
Other than the slight blunder with the Liquitex metallic ink, the other inks I used all worked well for me. The black was my ever trusted Speedball ink, and the purple was also Liquitex. I also used a white Jelly Roll pen for some details on the smaller mushrooms as well as my signature.
Also I should mention that I used a variety of Master’s Touch Brand brushes. They’re quickly becoming my go-to brushes for ink pieces and watercolor pieces as well!
If you liked this post, I have another one up featuring a wicked looking trucker zombie! And stay tuned, I’ve got more than a just a few Inktober drawings I’m dieing to share with you!
Fantastic drawing, well done @ashleynau
