HIS PRESENCE NEVER FAILS
Therefore shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life for as I was with Moses so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee nor forsake thee.
Joshua 1:5
In our opening verse, God assures Joshua that he will be with him but He doesn't stop there. He goes on to assure Joshua that he will not fail him. Why did he have to grant him that extra assurance?
There are times when the presence of people can fail us. We've all been in a situation with someone who we thought would be instrumental there only to find out that they didn't have the ability or know how to help out. In such a case their presence fails us. But that's not God! He doesn't lack the knowledge or power we need to cause a change in our situation. He's not useless or redundant. His presence never fails.
This is what Mary the mother of Jesus knew when she called upon him at the wedding at Cana (John 1:3). She knew that once Jesus was at the wedding with her, he would always know what to do. And so she would not take no for an answer or allow his presence go to waste. This should be our attitude when we encounter difficulties; turning to God, knowing not only that he is with us but that his presence never fails.
LIFE APPLICATION
Turn to God in times of confusion and expect his direction.
Be willing to do whatever he instructs no matter how outrageous it seems.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for your never failing presence that abides with me.
