BE OPEN TO REBUKE AND CORRECTION
Let a righteous man strike(correct) me--it is a kindness; let him rebuke me--it is oil on my head.
Psalm 141:5
Psalm 141 is a prayer where David laid many requests before God and amidst them was the request to be rebuked by righteous men.
David had deep insight into the things of God and knew that as part of attaining perfection, he needed to be rebuked anytime he went astray. In fact to David, being rebuked was an excellent oil upon his head. In other words, he saw being rebuked as being anointed with oil.
All the ways of a man looks right in his own eyes ( Proverbs 21:2) and hence, it is easy to resist correction even when one is wrong. However, as children of God, it is wise that we be open to correction ( proverbs 12:1) especially when the one doing the correction is a true christian brother and is using the Bible as his standard of reference.
LIFE APPLICATION
Do not be angry or harbour bitterness when rebuked by a brother or a shepherd in the Lord; rather, embrace it because it is a blessing to you.
PRAYER
Lord let a righteous man correct and rebuke me when I go astray.
In the Books of Psalms 50:21 says :
"These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such a one as thyself: But I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.". Thanks for sharing to the community #sc-g

I appreciate the great work you are doing. We got your back.
Amen. I always say that criticisms are meant for us to consider ourselves to see whether we are in line with God's will. They may come from sinners, but sometimes they have an element of truth in them. Let's also embrace rebuke. It's part of what God prepared his word to do. It's profitable for rebuke. 1 Tim 3.16
You are exactly on point. Sometimes you need to be criticized before u will get to know the right path. Thanks for your contribution man
Rebuke and correction is something every believer must be open to if they want to make it in the christian journey. Sometimes we wonder off track and unaware that we've gone off track. It's when our fellow christian brothers or sisters rebuke us that we get aware that we're off track and seek readjustment. Nice post
