...I remember... (A Small Bit Of My History In Poetry Form)

I remember when I thought
That I had come
To save you all…

And now I’ve gotten more than
Just a bit subjective
About the whole thing.

Along the way discovering
That there’s no one to save…

I remember when I thought I was
The AlienKnight
Who knew the sky morning
And tears of rain

I remember the sun
Glinting through the leaves
As I awoke from my nap
In a land new and strange…

I remember watching
As time fragmented before my eyes
To the left of me – time preparing to be the now
In the front of me – time being now
To my right – time used

I remember prostrating to the idols
I remember the monk
Fading into the darkness
..Telling me I’d be back…

I remember vomiting up blood in the street,
I remember playing cards with the old men
On the detox ward (how many times was I there?)
And how none of us could remember how to play
I remember the diamond in his ear…
I remember the phantoms circling above me.
I remember the terror...

I lay exhausted in the snow…
Nothing left to do but get up and go on… and on
I remember nine and a half years of the mountain and the ice
The moose
The coyote
The bear
Now that’s beauty

I remember that
I’ve forgotten a lot
That I now strive to remember

Perhaps for the first time…

Remembering for the first time

Countdown to infinity…

Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, dear
And it shows them pearly
white...

Yup, remember that too... :)
