Who am I?
I am a housewife. I have three children, the oldest is 11, the 2nd is 9 and the youngest is 8.
Knowing that my youngest is 8, all of sudden my friends kept asking me when will i get a job since all the kids have all grown up.
They first response was “Seriously?” with that awful tone of disgust. To tell you the truth, I get embarrassed!! like I should be doing more or I should move on... What is wrong with you guys??
I am very proud to be a housewife who has earned love by always standing like a pillar and support for my family. Do I think it’s wrong for a woman to work or have a career?... Absolutely not. No offense to ones who work, but I understand the sacrifices these strong ladies have to make.
But I also don’t think there’s anything wrong with a woman being a housewife. Believe me when I say this. There should be no shame in saying it gives me pleasure to take care of my family and home. It doesn’t make me less ambitious or intelligent.
I made my choice, I made a choice to not miss my babies’ smiles, cooking what my kids demand every now and then. For women out there, please don’t ever let anyone make you feel less than you are just because you’re not “employed”…You ARE “employed” by the most important people in the world…your children..
The aim of life is to be happy, no matter what you do. Because at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the outside world thinks of me, what matters is how my children see me, and how I see myself. I am a Happy Woman. Are you?
I would like dedicated this beautiful poem written by Ryshell Castleberry to all women who give their lives for the welfare of their families.
Somebody asked her…
You are a woman who works or is it just “housewife“?
She replied:
I work as a wife of the home, 24 hours a day…
I am a mother,
I am a woman,
I am a daughter,
I’m the alarm clock,
I’m the cook,
I’m the maid,
I am the master,
I’m the bartender,
I’m the babysitter,
I’m a nurse,
I am a manual worker,
I’m a security officer,
I’m the advisor,
I am the comforter,
I don’t have a vacation,
I don’t have a license for disease.
I don’t have a day off,
I work day and night,
I’m on duty all the time,
I do not receive a salary and…
Even so, I often hear the phrase:
”But what do you do all day?”

It’s not easy to be a stay at home mom at all. So many things to plan and look after. I work few days a week and those are the days i get to breathe a bit. Well done to you for getting this far.

There is nothing wrong being a housewife. "Stay at home mom would be rich if only they get paid for all the works they do instead of being taken for granted." Authors unknown.

housewife is a very noble profession.
almost all men crave a good wife and be a good mother for her children, and every child always wants a mother who is always present for her.
I am proud to know you. @arwine
