Huawei is a company that either people love or they hate for different reasons of course. The haters hate them due to the so-called Security Threat they posed to their users and the people that Love Huawei actually love their devices which are in my mind second to none. Now the reason I feel like Huawei is the Uncrowned King of Smartphones is that before the whole National Security Threat fiasco and Huawei getting Blacklisted by the United States they were literally an inch away from stealing Apple's Number One Spot in overall sales.
I personally love Huawei devices and even though they are priced almost similar to iPhone I never thought that it was overpriced at all. In fact, if I was given 1000 USD to buy either an iPhone or a Huawei Flagship I will obviously go for the latter. The reasons for me are quite simple, the tech behind Huawei is quite more interesting than that of the iPhone so it's a clear choice for me.
Currently, Huawei is under sanctions from the US and that has definitely been hurting them but they have now brought their own OS named Harmony OS and personally, I feel like even though it is not a threat for Google now it could lead to future troubles for Google in future. Personally, I would love to see Huawei devices flourish as they do bring a competitive environment to the Smartphone market and Competitiveness is always good for Consumers.

Until recently I had a Huawei, for two years it was my phone, and I stopped using it being almost new in terms of operation, in very good condition, and I liked it, only now I use a Redmi, and I liked it. But Huawei is an excellent brand, I agree.
If the data collection is removed from Huwei which they don't want to do. I think huwei can come back easily. But CCP and Huwei wants data of US users like any other country and so they are struggling on sanctions. But I guess biden being the wrong guy to lead US a lot of chinese companies would infiltrate eventually in US.
