The importance of using the right # tags

in #steemit6 years ago

I didn't know this at first until I it was brought up by another steemian but your tags or # as they are known are really important.

When I first joined steemit I would write 5 random words into the tag section at the bottom of the post and hope for the best, it turned out I was doing it all wrong.

So, after a conversation with a few other steemians I found out how important #'s really are in the world of steemit and i am going to explain this all to you.

So if your wanting to build a following but you are using the wrong hash tag then the wrong people are going to see it, plus you might piss of the wrong people for your post been in the wrong place. this is never good as a flag can damage your reputation here on steemit and we don't want that to happen do we?

So If I was to do a drawing of a cat, I could use the #'s animals nature drawing art and picture as these are all to do with what I have just done.
If I was to use the #'s steemit introducemyself cryptocurrency bitcoin and spanish these would not be good tags as it has nothing to do with what you have just produced for the block chain.

So if I was looking for artistic things to upvote I would not be looking in the introducemyself tag for that, and if I saw it in there I would avoid it as well why would something to do with art be in this section.

If you are new to steemit and don't know where to post to in the # section my advice would be to pop on to the either hot or trending tags at the top and see what other people with high votes have posted too.
all you have to do is find a relivent post to what you have done, click on it and scroll down to see what tags they used, these are at the bottom of every post.

Use them ones and tweek if needed to.

My problem with finding the write tags

As an art lover, I love to draw paint and make cartoons, I have found that there isn't as many popular tags for these as there could be. or is there?

People like @deemarshall have started popular tags that can be used when entering contests and she is not alone.
if you are entering one of her contest for Art storm than add the #artstorm to it, if your entering my contest use the #artclub
it is pretty simple as it helps people like me find your work on steemit, and that way we can support the work that comes are way.

One thing I like about @deemarshall is the fact that she resteems the posts that are relevant to her this means that you get more exposure for your post. plus all her followers see your post too and with them all been in the same boat they tend to support each other.
She has also got the art center too, with this your amazing post goes with your user name and post with the picture into her post and that is getting popular and very quick.

So as i have said post with the right tags and you will have more people looking at your work. it is all about relevance.

I hope this helps you guys, and i hope to see you all do well in the future.

Steemon my lovely brothers and sisters.

Yeah you are right @artonmysleeve. Selecting right tags gives your visitors and right followers

thank you. @vishalhkothari

I am trying to diversify my interest ( and topics I am writing about), but somehow I always end up on a few basic tags. For me it is usually writing, blog, a few communities I am in and if I do something in specific I put a tag for contest/challenge/special topic.

best thing I have found to do is to find some one who has done something like yours and copy their tags, don't choose a post where it has only picked up cents go for a post that has picked up dollars, then you know there is upvotes in there tags

This post has received a 2.22 % upvote from @booster thanks to: @artonmysleeve.
