Take a trip to Trent Lock
It seems my girlfriend has become accustomed to me halting our meals in order for me to take pictures for my next @tasteem review. In fact, I think she quite likes doing cameo appearances on my steemit blog page and seeing as it's a great excuse to go out for dinner this is one of those win win scenarios.
Our latest outing took us both to another local gem and it's a surprise to have taken this long for me to write a review on this gorgeous venue. Nevertheless, I'm here now and it is my pleasure to introduce you all to a Pub namd The Trent Lock...
The Trent Lock sits by the river Trent and as the name also suggests there is a Lock just a short walk away. If you're after a scenic place to eat or drink then here is the perfect example. Nearby is a quint little tea-room more English than rhubarb crumble and even closer is a canal/river path with spectacular views that would help walk off any one of the glorious meals served at the Trent Lock. Granted, this is the UK and I am quite aware our weather doesn't always play ball, but when the sun is shining you can be sure that this place will be packed out.
Even though this venue boasts a huge outdoor area, you will certainly have to book in advance or, at least, ring ahead and check there's space!
In the summer months, this really is the place to be and it's been this way for as long as I can remember. I now take my kid here, just like My Dad took me here with my brother and sister more than 25-years before. Not many Public houses in the UK have been granted this kind of longevity by its patrons, but when you run a Pub as good as this one I'd say you deserve all the praise and loyalty you get.
So that's ther outside of The Trent Lock covered, now let'st take a step indoors and see what's on offer...
As you can see from my pictures the interior is as naturally rustic as it is majestic. The seating is comfortable and every table has a window to gaze out of while you wait for your order to be taken. Question is, what will you decide to have...?
For me, it was the traditional fish and chips and for my better half it was the Hunters Chicken. Served with perfect timing, both our meals came out well before our tummies began groaning, but not too soon as to arouse suspicions of a ready cooked meal.
This was money well spent and after taking a few pictures we both enjoyed our meals.
The only complaint was made by my girlfriend, who noticed that my bowl of mushy peas wasn't exactly brimming. As far as I could see, there was just enough to accompany the meal, so I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about... However, I do have to admit to harbouring some suspicions about my girlfriends intentions, because when the extra bowl of mushy peas came to the table I didn't even get a sniff!! Seems my girlfriend isn't as innocent as she looks...
So to wrap things up, The Trent Lock is a treat to all your senses. This is a traditional Pub serving some classic dishes and all within a stones throw of the best Mother Nature has to offer.
I only hope this Pub is still around when our children grow up, so maybe they can carry on this wonderful tradition and show their, bionically enhanced, A.I.- children exactly what we did before virtual reality came along.
Thanks for reading my review and I hope to see you again soon.
