Working hard to achieve something?
You think the only way to achieve what you want, is that you must work hard to get it? Think again…
The working hard process:
- You wanted something so much, that you thought the only way to get it, was to work towards achieving it.
- You prepared this and that, planned a course of activities that you could work on, towards achieving your goal.
- And then you started working and doing all those things alone... Mainly because you didn’t want to involve anyone else (for whatever reason).
And as time goes on, maybe even years go by:
You find, you are still working hard towards that goal. Somehow you never got to became what you wanted to be.
You had fallen into a groove you couldn’t get out of. It seemed that you wasted all those years getting nowhere! You ask yourself, “What for?!”
What if you worked the other way round!
Instead of looking at the beginning… rather look at the end result… first:
- What have you always wanted, desired or want to become? How important is it to you?
- What can it do for you? How will you handle it when it comes? What will your life be like then?
Looking at the difference between both processes:
a) Working hard towards a goal:
While working hard, endlessly and aimlessly, along the way somehow you get side tracked easily with this or that! It is like aiming at your target with an arrow that has no sharp point.
It just becomes a way of life… how you do things from day to day.
b) Seeing the grand picture:
Knowing what’s really involved, you’ll know more what is required to achieve what you want.
- Check how other people achieved the same goal. What was involved in their case?
- Make a list of the things and how to obtain them. Clarify the different action sonatas before working effectively towards what you want.
- If there are things you can’t do, consider other ways or things you can do, to achieve them. Like hiring people that can do those things.
Need help?
- It takes longer, if you work alone. Who can help you achieve your goals? Who has the talents and skills you don’t have, that are needed to achieve the goal?
- What is in it for them? What things, talents and skills do you already have, or service you can provide them with, that can repay for what they do for you?
Put a sharp point on your arrow:
To work more effectively, schedule your work according to your energy power.
You know, you don’t have to work so hard!
Just put more joy into what you do, by taking time out when you’re tired or have lost your concentration. The more you force yourself to complete something, the more stressed you become.
- You will still be doing something. Just that you change or switch around what you do, according to your energy levels and how your mind and body copes with what you do.
Aiming straight?
Every now again access how things are going. What is holding things up? How can you change gear to re-direct things, to put things back on track? Need more research, what?
Do you need to aim higher and smarter? What you need to improve on? How steady is your aim to get what you want?
This is the only way
Yes. It isn't how HARD you worked. It's how effective you were.
When I build a team, I always look for people who like to win. If I do not find any of them, I look for people who hate defeat.
It's not only those love to win or hate defeat... but those who love and enjoy what they do. Then going to work is fun, they love to be there doing their thing!
What the supreme human seeks is in itself, but the poor seeks for what others have.
Supreme humans are those with vision, who know what they want and have the intelligent to know how to get it.
The poor strive for things, but don't know how to actually proceed to get on the right path to success.
If it fails, you will not work hard. What a failure but a temporary defeat creates you chances of success
Most people can't handle failure, so they give up before they even begin.
I found that out in Junior school. In the play ground. They would say, I don't won't to play that game, I always loose. They never stopped to think, if I play against the expert, I will learn how to win.
A person without a goal as a ship without a rudder, both will end up on the rocks.
It's like a arrow without a bow!
There are two classes of people, there is the group that goes and does the work, and there are the others who sit still and ask why things did not work in a different way! .. I learned that there are important decisions that a person must take no matter how difficult and angry people around him
Aaah! When hiring people, some say yes they can do the job... and when they are hired, they don't really know how to do the job. So they procrastinate and fiddle around.
But if the person has some idea how to do the job, they will proceed straight away without fuzz.
So if a boss sees their staff struggling, they should explain clearly and properly how the task should be done. Then everyone is happy and the job gets done sooner.
In order for us to complete our journey in life there must be a goal, but we can not continue to achieve it without encouragement and persistence, this encouragement may be from parents and friends and most importantly to be derived from ourselves
We useless aiming for a goal, unless we know what it is we want or how to get it.
The inner encouragement comes from enjoying what you do.
If you do not try to do anything beyond what you have mastered, you never progress.
We may previously learnt from our experiences how to do something, but we master it practicing it often. But if we want to be experts at it, like you say, we did to do more research and test other ways of doing it. Either to perfect the skill or learnt a new technique. And going the `extra mile' makes it like, taking an exciting adventure through life.
Ambition is the spiritual energy in human life. It is the mental plan that organizes our life, which drives us towards the future. There is no value to human existence, if not ambition. In this article, I put you in a position to make us more ambitious.
I like that: Ambition is spiritual energy! Well said.
Our inner spirit must be inspired and motivated. Feel great about what we hope to achieve.
As for life to be a daring adventure, or nothing.
Yes that is what I try to tell people. Our life is like taking an adventure. But it's up to us how that adventure pans out.
