It’s important to create WOW-moments!

in #blog9 years ago

As they stimulate new thought processes. And if wisely used, can be valuable building blocks to future success.

Something I learnt:

Many years ago I wanted to learn how to paint oil paintings.

  • I went into art material shops, but no one in the shop could tell me how to size and prime raw canvas.
  • If you searched bookshops or libraries, there weren’t any art books that supplied any practical advice.
  • And when you went to private artists’ studios, they wouldn’t tell you anything either. It seems they protected it somewhat like housewives holding back their secret recipes!

So I decided:

I would change all that and write more informative art books. So that up and coming aspiring artists would benefit.

  1. I started collecting information here and there and writing up notes. Then tested what I learnt and then typing up my experiences and findings into book form.
  2. Since art covers a vast curriculum I soon found I had to split up that first book several times.
  3. And as I gathered and experimented, I linked, categorized and compared the info. Taking out the basic facts, I simplified the facts by creating diagrams.
  4. And in the process I started to see a trend that exposed some very interesting facts that exposed long hold fallacies.  That taught me a lot and how to be more observant.

Why am I telling you this?!

Wow-moments occur when you start to think more deeply about what you have seen, heard or read about.

Building bridges between facts, theory, fantasy and trends, your mind starts to tick over at an accelerated pace, so fast that it’s hard to keep tabs on your thoughts.

It isn’t long before important facts start to `stand-out-like-a-sore-thumb’ or like a `red-lolly-pop’. It is then you know you have a bonus-plus situation, useful stuff that you can use to your advantage.

The tipping-point:

When something like that happens, you say to yourself “Bingo! This is fantastic stuff. It sure puts the cat-between-the-pigeons!”

You ask yourself:

  •  Can you run with it? And how will it work out?
  • Will I have to make changes to it, to fit my own situation or project?
  •  Which of my skills or talents can I use to turn it to my advantage?

And that is how new inventions occur:

Taking well known stuff, comparing possibilities and adding new concepts to it.

  • The whole process is like taking an adventure into the unknown. To places you would have never even considered before. All because you took time and the trouble to put things together.
  • Fame and fortune wasn’t and isn’t built on dull people. It’s those who seek Wow-moments that get places.
Sort:

Fame and fortune wasn’t and isn’t built on dull people. It’s those who seek Wow-moments that get places.

Surely it's for those who are able to imagine, visualize and apply the creativity at heart.
That we usually call it talent.

Yip, that is what I'm referring to. It's not just what we see, read and hear about, it's how we use those facts. It takes imagination and innovated creativity to make it work.

The most beautiful thing when you paint a painting, you just don't paint?
You create new Hope and make it happy and that's what we really need.. We need hope.
Really Thank you againPretty artguru :)

The "inspiration" icon image I use for this type of topic, is suppose to show light of inspiring knowledge shining through. The light is always there for us, but how often do we notice it!?

Hi @artguru, nice post.

Since I've joined Steemit wow-moments are occurring to me everyday as I've started writing (and thus thinking more deeply) about some philosophical topics (mostly life value, life purpose, social norms, and beauty) that have interested me for a long time. : )

It's not just what we write, its the response (comments) from others that's so encouraging. You sort of search your soul to give them more. Then you ride on your emotions and inspirations occur.

Yes, there's nothing better than a meaningful comment that expands or alters your opinion expressed in the article! : )

This is without compliments. What a beautiful philosophy that you say through your emotions
Your choice of this subject answers that nothing is impossible
Nothing is impossible, always as successful as you artguru

Nothing seems impossible when you have strong inner drive to achieve it. You have to believe what you are doing is of benefit to someone out there.

Wow! It's a very nice post @artguru
I like your post.
Thank you for motivate us :)

My pleasure. It's fun helping others. Since I know what it is like to learn the hard way.

As always well presented and very informative thus far... am glad i chose to follow you. thanks for another wonderful post

Wow beautifull post :) keep going like this :)

a beautiful experience .. i wish you all the best

As a child I used to draw.A very nice way. A good hobby. Good luck to you:)

Draw in childhood and draw in adulthood, these are completely different things. It seems to me that painting pictures, in adulthood, is something more. Drawing is like an excuse for sublimation, to release your thoughts and your inner world outward through drawing. I really respect creative people and wish you good luck. I especially wish you to please us further, with such wonderful and interesting posts
