It’s not what you are doing, but… How it is done and how you say it. How you present your content, etc. 

No matter your organization:

It’s the ability to get people fully engaged.  

So ask yourself, if you were checking out someone else’s website or blogs: 

• What jet-propels you into accepting something?  
• What excites you enough to participate in something? 
• What do you think is exciting or worth reading? 
• What makes you sit up and take notes? · What holds your attention for more than 20 minutes?
• Would you go back and check on that particular website again? And Why? 

Now, take those conclusions you’ve come to, and consider how you could use them in future, in your own blogs. 

It’s understanding what drives a person:

It’s all about what people like or enjoy most to read about and see. 

• How dramatic it is. Action packed, roller coasting, moving from one fact onto another. 
• Something so magical, out of this world, that’s truly unbelievable.  
• Seat riveting and mind blowing. Got to see how it turns out. 
• Answers to questions… tangible facts that can improve and change lifestyles.  
• People want to be happy. Fulfill desires and cravings. 

It’s about engagement:

Writing… as if you’re talking directly to a person, relating to them personally. 

• Friendly conversation, using jargon that’s upbeat. 
• Consider topics that would apply to their possible circumstances. 
• Suggest things that appeal to the heart and emotions of the person. 
• Asking questions they have to think about. Give them reason to respond. 
• Pursue and follow up on things people are concerned and commenting about. 

Open your net wide:

It’s like fishing with a fish net. Once you have gathered in your fish, make sure your network has small enough holes to keep those you gathered. 

• To keep people happy and contented. Make it worthwhile coming to your site or to read your blogs. Continue to give them what they want and more.
• Reward them and respond to people’s comments. Especially those who make an effort to provide profound and interesting statements. This gets more people to get involved as well.  
• Always have something new to present, so they never know what else you will come up with. So they’ll stick around to see what next you’ll come up with. 

That reminds me about a particular teacher: 

This chap may have looked an ordinary guy to you and me. But he had the most astonishing shrewd inner foresight. 

• He always came to class with a suitcase. From which he would produce a different visual aid each day. His suitcase was like a `jack-out-the box’ conjuring act. 
• As he taught, he would turn the lesson into something profound or unequivocally funny. But it was always a dynamic motivating exciting lesson.
• Something the children would never forgot. He had them `eating-out-of-his-hands’. They never wanted to miss any of his classes. 
• Why? Not only was it visually impressive, it had an emotional lasting impact on the souls of the children. 
• To the children, the content of his suitcase was like visiting an exciting website with the most extraordinary content. Things they couldn’t wait to see and what was next!? 

PS:  That teacher never had naughty children or absentees in his class!
