Creating dramatic seascape paintings!
Unfolding the mysteries of how to paint seascapes… for those who have ambitions of creating beautiful sensational seascapes.
Oil painting by Ada Fagan:
First know what people want:
What turns them on when they are looking for a seascape painting?
Always remember: First impressions have an impact on the soul:
- They like dramatic scenes. Those flat horizontal scenes with long small ripple waves cruising towards the shore, maybe very peaceful and beautiful, but they have no drama.
- First, most people like to see a big clear wave, just before it breaks onto a massive rock, cliff face or even a light house.
- They like to see the POWER of the sea. Somehow this appeals to their ego.
- And the contrast of warm and cool colours affects their romantic senses and emotions.
Next post in this series will have more tips on painting fantastic seascapes.
