Are you a huge whale or just a crab?
Whales are BIG TIME bloggers. They swim the high seas. Whereas crabs are shy, scuttle sideways and block out the world with their nippers!
People don’t just go to your website because of your pretty pictures. They are there because of your personality. What fantastic things you say and do.
You must be a leader. Not just fill a space with interesting text.
Why, because people are looking for whales. People who set an example, they can follow and learn from.
- Arise and blaze a trail for others to follow.
- Think bigger than you are. Think out of the box, to create extraordinary stuff.
- Do crazy things. People only take notice of dramatic crazy things.
“Are you saying we must be nut-cases?”
Yes, why not. (With tongue in cheek) Haven’t you noticed crazy people rule this world! Makes you think of a few characters doesn’t it!?
Jokes aside… People are tired of the humdrum stuff. Be different, do unique things. Produce a gold mine of intriguing stuff, seemingly like magic.
“Oh yea, how?”
All quiet little crabs, come out of your hiding places and snap up the stage and spring into action. I’m sure you have a store of hidden knowledge and skills just waiting to be used.
“Says you!”
Yea, I’m sure your life hasn’t been all that boring.
For example, how do you think whales get their material?
· There are things happening all around you and on the news. Watch out for the unusual or cute thing. You never know it could go viral on the internet.
· Haven’t you noticed the silly things people do? At the time what were you thinking? What retort did you utter? Next time write it done and add your thoughts on the matter. Perhaps use it as a caption.
· In fact keep a notebook handy to fill in all your adventures big or small. There is always a twist to the tale. Especially if you make it so.
· Also, add facts and figures. You never know when that stuff will come in handy. The internet is like a universal library if you have to do additional research.
This is what my art students have often said to me:
“The whole world seems to come more colourful and alive, since you have opened our eyes.”
- Are you really seeing the world? Or does it pass you by?
- Do you actually stop and closely observe the power of the moment?
- Do you stop to think about what people are saying? Can you learn from their experiences?
Yip, it’s easy as that! And having said that,
- What do you value most?
- What is most important to you?
You can be a whale in the worldly sense, but you can also be a whale in your own community. Been a whale means been out there, helping and loving others. If you’re self-centred no one wants to be with you.
Many years ago I was offered international acclaim as an artist, and I turned it down!
Stupid? No, I don’t think so. My family came first because I value eternal things more. But that hasn’t stopped me sharing my talent and skills with others.
“And what has been the result?”
I’ve had a good life, done things only others have only dreamed about.
