Acceptance of the inner-man
Acceptance of whom and what we are personally, makes a difference as to how we cope and succeed in this life.
Most of us worry about what people may think of us. How we look and fit into social peerships. But when we realize we are children of God and individually special in the eyes of God, we begin to accept ourselves, warts-and-all.
Some of us realize this when:
- We are young and blossom from strength to strength.
- And to others, it comes much later.
- 3. And to some, they never realize their full potential.
It came to me about thirty years ago.
Up till then I had thought my straight `straw’ hair and my ‘pumpkin-bag’ shaped body, besides all my other liabilities, unacceptable!
But when I stopped and considered how God thought all those liabilities were in fact my best attributes, I stopped trying to change what I looked like and began to accept who I really was. I must say the realization of acceptance came as a welcome relief.
So that is how I started making the best of my abilities and find my true inner self. And it’s been an exhilarating venture ever since.
- In accepting myself, I realized it gives me the license to do anything I wish, if I put my mind to it. Then, if I chose something that looked like a unattainable huge thing to do, I would look for the little things I could do, little by little, step by step, to make the huge project eventually achievable.
- It also meant the freedom to express myself and think up the most exciting stuff, intriguing stories, unique works of art, etc… all the stuff that uplifts and stirs peoples’ imagination.
- The fun of meeting people and going places, taking photos and painting those places. Each situation gave me a thrill, because I sort the beauty in everything I saw.
- In doing this I got to the point where I understood the value of been different, been unique in my own right.
Been `weird’ is wonderful!
It’s a fact that if your website is exciting and different, it trends. Or if your art is vibrant and unique, it builds a dynamic brand, making you stand out from the crowd from other artists out there.
It’s okay to be yourself. Been different makes you an interesting character… making people want to be with you. Why? Because, your life seems so exciting!
Doing fascinating things and been somewhat unpredictable, people want to know what you will say and get up to next. Your dynamic blog posts puts sparks of fun in their everyday humdrum lives.
The reason why you are not scared to say the worst dandiest things is because you know it’s okay to be yourself. And secondly, people are covertly interested in how other people coped with similar situations.
Acceptable weirdness!
Not acting so weird that you turn people off or make them nervous. But rather say those things that you know people can easily relate to it.
Comedians get away with the dandiest things, and people laugh, because they know it’s only too true to life. And secretly admire the comedian for been brave enough to say it.
There are people who struggle to fit in the society, trying to impress people and change their inner selves, little did they know that our strengths and even our weaknesses give color to the community. Diversity is beautiful!
So well said. So many of us struggle through our lives, not really using our potential, or enjoy our lives to the full.
Our God is so big and so powerful that he can literally give us individual attention. Fortunately He is also a loving and caring God. I wish more people could realize (understand the reality of) who He really is and get to know him personally the way you have. Thanks for being weird enough to share your life with us!
Great post and I love your honesty. We all have flaws and sometimes they work to our benefit. I believe all creation has a purpose in God's master plan!
Everyone has something to offer. Something positive to contribute. Even if it's simply a hug and a sympathetic ear.
I was inspired by this :-) thanks
wow - I've had to deal with taming my weirdness. You've just written my life story =p
This Is Good Post thaks @artguru
I agree with you on all 100%
Hmm.. True. I have always thought of myself as weird, and often misunderstood. But i have never changed that. I am weird, i have my quirks, and i embrace them.
