Good Friday: When I Said I'd Go Bald, I Should Have Said Super Bald?

Good Friday, the day Jesus was supposedly nailed on the cross. Oh such a dark day but I spent most of it reading online. Lost books of the Bible anyone? 😂😂😂

Afterwards I decided to finally go out and get the haircut I've been wanting to have for months a few years now. Since it's the holy week, I was expecting most of the stores are closed and salons would be no different.

Off to Find a Salon...

I left my smartphone at home to charge and went out to finally have all my hair shaved. Unfortunately there was no open salon near where I live at all. If there's ever a wrong time to get a haircut, that's on Good Friday. Or so I thought.

Upon walking a bit further, I saw an open salon on the second flr of a commercial building. And I thought, oh somebody's open today, lucky me. It's one of those places you don't usually go to because there are other salons where you don't need to go up a flight of stairs. I went to about four closed salons in the area before I saw it was the only one with the lights on. Since it looked open, I decided to take my chances and see if I could indeed get a haircut.

Found One!!!

Going up the stairs and walking to the salon, I see all the other shops were closed and when I got to it I saw it was empty. Uhm. There were no customers at all. Oh no. I checked their door sign and it had the OPEN side showing so what was I supposed to do? 😅 I still felt compelled to enter and ask the one person facing the wall or something. (Blame it on my salesperson persona maybe? 😂😂😂 Does it mean I don't give up easily? Well I've never been known to give up on getting what I really want even before I got into sales.) Eherm so anyway I asked if they were open. And as expected, someone emerged from behind a cabinet and kindly told me they were closed. Awww.

And so I went out and walked away thinking today is really not the day to get haircuts. Oh but wait, somebody called me from behind. Oh look, the same gay person smilingly asked me what kind of haircut I would like. Yay! He said I gave him a look that made him pity me so he changed his mind. Told me he was a hairdresser there too so he could definitely give me a haircut. 😂😂😂 Well I said I'm sorry and told him I really wanted to go bald and thought they were open since everyone else had the metal roll up store doors down and locked.

Apparently they just finished the salon renovation that's why they were open even though they're closed. 😂 So there I was, finally about to get bald for the first time. They let me sit on the chair to get a haircut. And he had the head shaver prepared. He asked if I wanted to look like the Black Swan actress. "Oh Natalie Portman? Yeah."

And so the image of her crying while getting shaved came to mind. I don't think she was bald in that movie... It was another movie where she got her head shaved.

It's Shaving Time!

Of course he also asked me why I wanted to go bald, like was I going to enter the military or something? Told him I just wanted to try it since I've never gone bald before plus it's Holy Week so it's a long weekend holiday. Satisfied and finally prepared, he straight out buzzed my head close to the scalp. Hmmm. 🤔 I was almost laughing. Here I thought people should cut the hair first before one becomes bald. Perhaps that's only for waxing hair off the body? 😂😂😂 But really I've seen enough head shaving videos to know it's really how it's done.

Anyway since I didn't have my phone, I couldn't document the whole thing. First time I went supposedly bald and no video. 😂 Great idea leaving my phone behind dear self. 😆 And so buzz went the razor, part by head part. And then suddenly I looked like a Buddhist monk. Oh my. I laughed again. So funny to see me as a skinhead. Who knew I'd look like a monk or something.

And the buzzing continued. I was fully prepared to go completely hairless but the hairdresser probably thought otherwise. Uhm, would have told him I would like to have no hair whatsoever but nevermind. For some reason I find most hairdressers are reluctant to experiment with my hair as much as I want them to.

Earlier I said papakalbo ako, meaning I wanted to go bald. Not that I was against looking like a skinhead but I was still seeing hair about a few mm off my scalp. Uhmmm. He rubbed something on my head and brushed it off with some baby powder too.

Since I didn't expect getting my head shaved would not be as easy as I saw them YouTube videos, I just said my thanks and went on my way home. After all it was like a favor from him doing his job even when they're supposed to be closed. Am happy and thankful enough that he obliged to get most of the hair gone anyway. Now my head feels cooler. 😂

He told me I should still use shampoo because I would be prone to getting dandruff because of my haircut. Uhmmm. Okay. Didn't know that. Would have said I really wanted to have the mm-left-hair fully shaved off but nevermind. Actually I could have just done it myself. Cut off my hair then shaved it using the leg shaver but nah. I wanted someone else to do it for me. Or yeah I can still completely shave the hair off. 😂

Anyway, I also used my bandana upon going home so I don't feel shocked or "naked" if people would look at me with surprise or questions in their eyes. Had to pass by Jolibee and the grocery first before going home so I had to have the bandana on. 😁

Since it's the Holy Week and I got no work to do, I can stay home and grow my hair out. If I need to go out I'll just use any of my four new bandanas or just don't care about the stares I'll get. Ugh I hate it when people stare at me.

Hello Shaved Head, How Are Ya?

When I got home, I removed the bandana and looked at my head. Took some pics and I was laughing. Somehow I find myself looking funny. 😂😂😂

Also never thought the hairline at the base of my head was that low. Hmmm. 🤔 Checking on online pics though, it seems the same as other female shaved heads so okay, it's fine I guess. Now my head feels itchy. Imma wash my hair head now. 😂 Next step would be bleaching it too. 😆
