What I Really Think Of Steemit

In June of last year when I was introduced to Steemit, I started with a sense of wonder and even a tad bit of insecurity as my experience with Facebook was very unpleasant after having lost so much money paying for ads for my business on their site.
My first blog on here I don’t believe earned me anything, but I didn’t give up and as I started to blog more and read others blogs and commenting I started seeing an increase in upvotes for my posts. Granted, I’m no whale, still a lil minnow making my way upstream but it always feels good to see my friends and followers stop by and comment/upvote on my posts. It’s like we have all built our own little tribes of Steemit friends! Mine may be small but it’s a mighty bunch!

However, I notice many of us who started around the same time have about the same amount of followers yet not all of those followers comment or upvote our posts. I think this is due to the traditional social media mentality of more followers=popularity which doesn’t translate well here as we pretty much all have the same goal here- to earn STEEM. Without upvotes it doesn’t really matter how many followers we may have. I only address this because I see many new bloggers spamming with “follow me” comments yet they don’t upvote posts.

I feel I’ve yet to learn so much on Steemit, and I’m excited to do so. I have learned more about crypto on here and made great friends than anywhere else.

Most importantly the sense of community here on Steemit is the best! It’s so fun to see what everyone is up to, to browse your artwork, to learn more about your lives. It makes me so happy when I have done time in my day to catch up on all my favorite people on the blockchain.

So after everything I have written on here what do I really think of Steemit? I think it’s allowed many of us to have a creative outlet where we may earn a little, or a lot in some cases, extra income, it’s introduced us to new people, it’s given us an understanding of how crypto and the blockchain work, but most of all it gives us the opportunity to be part of an awesome community! I love my Steemit tribe!

I think what has happened with followers, some became discouraged that they didn't make mega bucks right away and they left. Dead followers. I joined in June too, and have plodded my way along. I have met some wonderful friends and learned some new things along the way. Whatever extra I made was just bonus for me. The networking is important.

All of the above!

I think it is best that we first connect with people, then others(earnings, upvote and followers) follows. I'm kind of new to steemit, bearly a month. I noticed that the first foundation for Steemians is to first relate more and contribute wisely to the community.

Nice post though...

I think upvoting content we like in the beginning shows to others they appreciate the work put in the blog and gets you noticed.
Thank you for stopping by!

I always enjoy the beauty and style you bring to my feed!

Thank you!

After years of throwing my poems at the blogger wall of bleedpoetry.com, I finally found a receptive audience for my writing. After paying hundreds of dollars for post promotion using both google and facebook, yet never trying to/wanting to add advertisements to my work so never turning any profit from my investment, a donate button that may as well of been a picture of a cricket. 50,000 spam bots, and growing popularity in Israel. I joined in the same June gold rush you did, and we've been on this path together a while, I've seen you flourish from dime posts to $35+ posts... Just going to say, sexy sells😝

Happy to be a member of your tribe😄

I feel ya! You’re like my little big brother best guy friend on here, you’ve had my back since day 1 and reading your poetry is always my quiet/meditative moment of the day. Hugs mon ami!!!! Love being such a cool tribe! Haha

I have been noticing the same things. Let's keep on going on this Steemit adventure.

No matter how much we make we can't give up!

I love being a member of your tribe. .. i Hope i am anyway :)

Always! Of course you are !
Xo ☺️

Thats good :)

One of the things that has affected the voting is the decreasing Voting Power mechanism. It forces folks to ration their votes - whether it be only doing ten 100% votes or many lesser percent votes. I opt for the second method and do a balancing act because I refuse to not vote for content I like, even if it only amounts to a penny.

Earnings aside, though, the friends I've made here will endure long after the crypto is spent. That's a right good deal in my thinking.

;~D

I totally feel you! Sometimes I know I won’t get a chance to get to others blogs so I like to upvote comments regularly. And like you, the friendships I’ve made are the best thing of this platform! So glad we crossed paths on the blockchain!

Amen! That last paragraph could have been written by me, although probably not as well. :)

I feel it’s almost a privilege to be on here🙂

I think for some it has to do with encouragement, some don’t always have the time to invest like they’d want too!
