How To Solve Unsolvable Problems
We've all heard the old adage, "It's not about A, it's about B." Yet, when dealing with problems of the highest magnitude, it is imperative to know how to solve unsolved problems. Solving problems of the utmost importance requires a certain mindset. Here's what you need to do.
Every problem we encounter in our lives is an opportunity to learn and grow. So, the first step is to NOT treat a problem as if it is an obstacle to be overcome. When we have a tough challenge, we zero in on the solution - the only way to win is to tackle the problem. Steven Spielberg once tried this when the shots with the alien monster were just not scary.
The key was to NOT look at the monster and to NOT worry about it. Spielberg had to figure out how to solve unsolvable problems by NOT focusing on the problem, and instead focusing on the solution. You can do the same thing when you're facing a challenge. Instead of dwelling on the problem, figure out how to resolve it.
The second step to learning how to solve unsolvable problems is to FOCUS. Find the ONE solution to the problem, rather than wasting your time on the multitude of possibilities. You need to know what you are solving for and have a clear vision of exactly what you want before you begin. Too many people waste a lot of time looking at a myriad of possible answers and coming up blank. This only leads to frustration and an inability to move forward when they really should be moving.
You must believe there is a right answer and then start acquiring the necessary skills to acquire it. You must be willing to follow through on what you have learned. You must have an inner voice that reminds you of what you have learned and urges you to act upon it.
As you become more knowledgeable and understand more about the problem you are dealing with, you will also understand more about yourself. You may find that there are underlying issues that are causing your frustration. When you know why something is taking place, you can often use the problem as a springboard to improve upon the problem itself. You can take the frustration and use it to spark a positive change in the problem. By learning how to recognize and identify the problem, you are giving yourself the tools necessary to solve it.
It may seem like an easy concept. How do I deal with this problem? How do I solve it? But you have to ask yourself questions like these in order to truly understand the concept and learn how to deal with it.
In the world of consulting, you will meet a lot of people that seem to know all the answers. Some of these answers are right, while others are wrong. This is because some people were taught wrong from the beginning. Learning how to solve unsolvable problems is not an easy process. If you put the time in and keep at it, you will be able to master the skill of problem solving and will be able to solve problems for both individuals and businesses.
Most of the time, you will be working on unsolvable problems during your first few months working as a consultant. However, you will be surprised with how quickly you are able to master this skill. Within three or four months of working on problems that are unsolvable, you will find that you are able to solve the majority of them. During this period, you should be learning how to manage and deal with a number of different types of problems. As you become more comfortable with each problem, you will be able to apply this knowledge when it comes to real world problems. Once you master this skill, you will be ready to deal with any problem that comes your way.
One of the key reasons why these problems are so hard to deal with is that you might be doing things wrong. Sometimes, there is an underlying problem that needs to be identified and solved before you are able to solve the problem. One of the worst things that you can do is spend your time analyzing the problem and its root causes. This will allow you to make quick progress while the problem is still unsolvable.
There is no one formula for knowing how to solve unsolvable problems. However, there are some steps that you can take in order to deal with most of the problems that you will come across. Once you learn these steps, you will find that you are able to make quick progress and develop great skills. There is no reason why you cannot learn how to solve these problems yourself. In fact, doing so could actually end up being a major benefit to you and your career.
