At least we can smile a little
Yesterday was a mentally draining day for with the whole debacle between Steem, Steemit and Justin Sun. I spent hours in the Townhall meeting and ended up missing the first half of our FA Cup fixture against Portsmouth. Judging by the match stat at half time, I didn't miss that much football.
We looked quite right in the second half, and I got to see what Pablo Mari had to offer. My stream started around the 56th minute of the match, and the first thing I noticed was Mari sending a pinpoint crossfield pass to Reis Nelson from at least 50 yards out. At the time, we were already 2-goals to the good, but the game still had a lot to offer, despite those being the only goals of the match.
I checked match action on Livescores and noticed that Lucas Torreira was taken off in the 26th minute and judging from reactions on Twitter, it might have been a bad injury. His situation is still being assessed, and we will know a little bit more in the coming days.
The team had a right blend of young and experience and were too tricky for the Pompy side to bear. We grabbed our goals from Sokratis and Eddie Nketiah, moving us to the Quarterfinal of the tournament. This is a tournament we've won regularly in recent times, so it is not out of the question to expect a strong challenge for it.
After the Europa League heartbreak, our priority is getting into the top 4 of the premier league, and with the teams above us stuttering, I believe we can make a genuine push for it. It was nice to give our top players some rest, and with another gruelling set of fixtures on the horizon, we will need all the firepower we can get. We've lost so much this season, but there's still our pride and participation in the Champions League at stake. Until we meet again, up the Arsenal.
Mari looked solid, was pretty impressed with him because pompy really gave it a go! Eddies goal was great, Nelson needs to show more of that type of wing play and Pepe could be in for a challenge or a switch and we can move auba upfront
Yeah but Reis still needs to calm the fuck down. He regularly runs off the ball and not in a skillful way.
I saw the match stats and noticed Pompy had a lot of shorts off target, I figured they were just hopeful attempts. They didn't really look like troubling us and we bossed possession for large spells. I also was happy that Holding is back in contention. I hope he stays fit.
