How To Increase Followers - A Guide For New Steemians

Boom! 2000+ followers. 2000+ in less than nine months is pretty good, I would say. I got to 2000 followers just around the time when STEEM spiked to six dollars. Since my old guide on "how to increase your following" is ranked number 1 at google when you search "how to increase followers on steemit" I decided to make a new one, as I find it pretty bad compared to what I have learned now. Therefore, if you are struggling to get followers, try following this guide.

How To Get Followers

Engage!

Steemit is a community. Actually, it's just a platform, but if you engage in the platform you make it a community. In a community, you communicate. There are plenty of ways to communicate on Steemit. Just by voting you are somehow communicating by telling people that you liked what they created, wrote, posted etc. But the best way to engage with the community is through posting and commenting. Especially commenting. Commenting makes the platform and the community feel a lot more alive. If nobody is commenting on any posts, it would be the same as speaking in front of a group of 10 people, and all they do when you finish is just to look at you. Start commenting on posts that actually has your interest or that you know something about. Nothing worse than a post from a user which clearly doesn't know anything about the topic you write about. By doing this you will quickly increase your following, and some might visit your blog. Win/win. Of course, writing posts is also a great way, but don't underestimate the power of commenting.

Vote

I have recently witnessed the power of just voting. Two weeks, or so, back I started following @acidyo streemian trail. This had an amazing effect. Streemian is a website that allows you several things, one of them following curation trails. Following a curation trail means that you are voting on the same things as the curator you're following is voting on. This has many benefits. If you don't have the time to vote all day long, or might go on vacation for a few weeks, you will still earn curation rewards. I decided to follow Acidyo as he is a manual curator, and supporting is like supporting the platform in a healthy and organic way. Go to Streemian and start following a trail!

Be Original and Don't Forget Quality

Not a surprise for anyone, right? As I mentioned, commenting, is extremely important. Be yourself, in your comments and posts. Add your thoughts, your own ideas, your own words, to the post or the comment you're creating. I simply don't upvote silly comments like "wow, great post", "I read your post, great job", as they add no quality to the platform. Steemit should be a place you go to find original posts, and by supporting such silly comments you simply want to watch steemit burn. Be yourself, and the support will come, and your pack of followers on Steemit will increase faster than ever.

Followers is not everything, but they sure help. You can check how many dead followers you have - here

As I have promoted the importance of being original, adding your ideas, thoughts, etc, I will reward the best comment/comments with a 100 % upvote and maybe some SBD/STEEM

Wow! I didn't know about the Streemian and want to thank you for the tip. I started with Steemit in May this year and also invested some money in it early. I think many people see it as a fast way to earn some money but I dont think it should be about the money on steemit. I have found some great cryptoprojects thanks to steemit and this is where the real value is for me. Good content and finding out about stuff I would never found on lets say Facebook. Thank you for the post and keep em coming!

Thanks for the support. What are your plans with the STEEM you have? What is your price goal of STEEM? Steemit has many great articles, as you have found, you just have to keep looking :)

My plan is to just leave it there as it is. First goal is 1000 STEEM POWER, hopefully there soon :) I hope one day to have 5000 STEEM POWER. I mean Facebook have 530B$ Markecap today, I think STEEM can reach at least 10% of that and that would make it 230$ per STEEM. But its a long way to go I think. What is your price goal?

Well 230 $ would be crazy, but it's possible, but not before 2022 probably. I would be very happy just to see 10 $, so lets start at that ;)

If we look at the Steem/ BTC chart we can see the record high at about x10 than today. BTC boomed, Steem (imploded?). I think that the price in range 10-30 $ is realistic

@robi you will surely get those steem power and we all will help you to achieve.

Thanks for sharing! I think the whole point of this community is to educate/provide knowledge to each other. We should create content curated towards our own knowledge, studies, and skillsets. Your diversity should be your greatest asset.

The users who have the 'get rich quick' mentality will not fare well as this platform continues to take off.

As you state, be yourself and push your creativity! That's the benefit of this platform. Not only are we rewarded for being our authentic selves(which is rare, especially with other social platforms) we are able to create, share, and explore new areas of content that media moguls are frightened of.

Steem On!

At the beginning, I set my target to be 5 followers per day.
Now my pace is actually better, 404 in 55 days (a bit more than 7 per day)

Also, I set a target to get my reputation growing to 45 in the first month - achieved.

And to get a new fan every week - done.

I write about science (visit steemSTEM tag, at least 10 great posts every day)
and about cars (still very small and unused tag).

Just write about the things you like, with the passion and the result will come. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this piece ! My "New years resolution" is to put in more work this year into steem in hopes of growing my steem following =)

Love it! Going to make a YouTube video in the near future I think on how to gain followers! Thanks for the tips.

Would be awesome!

Steemit has a wide variety subjects/topics. So its best to find topics that really grip you and to add your own personal/original thoughts on those topics in the comments. Every steemit user has something unique to offer on some particular subject.

wow i love this, am putting it at work.... hoping for a better result... thanks @arsenal45

Also - been working on a little Bon Iver in your honour :)

Awesome! Looking forward to it :)

Just saw this - congrats! 2000+ is definitely a feat! I was super happy to pass 1100 last week :).

This was very useful, also recently I realized that the tags you put in an article are important, that if you put the wrong ones then less people will see your article, any advice on that?

They have to relate to the article, and by putting in the right ones you can be more certain that the pople looking through those tags will be more interested than if you tag a gaming article with "health", "life", etc.

I understand, thank you you are always so kind to answer all my questions! I hope you found the tablet you wanted!
