Plants Vs drugs

in #palnet7 years ago

It is no coincidence that in many of my publications I emphasize the Spanish invasion, but it has a single objective, to try to step on land and to be conscious, the past 500 years ago was not a discovery or conquest as does the history books of Spain, even today on October 12 is celebrated the discovery of America. And I keep asking myself, what did they discover? In these lands there were cultures with perhaps superior knowledge from the point of view of the conservation of the environment, and with a system of valuation of gold very different from that imposed in Europe since ancient times.

I will develop today's theme on the basis of medicine and the advances that for hundreds of thousands of years perfected both Incas and Aztecs and Mayas.

A few months ago I had published these same photos but without a text to accompany it, the problem started with my first and only publication on the Ntopaz platform, I did not understand very well how the system was and I was wrong to try to upload the publication with a text very different from the one I am writing at the moment.

The photographs were taken in the Bolivar square of the city of caracas while enjoying the afternoon a little sunny, it was when I heard an imposing voice of an old man, not long in finding the location of that man of clothes weasel;Although he looked more like a peasant from the interior of the country, that man wore a hat woven with very traditional tree lianas in the eastern part of the country, holding branches and leaves while his eyes were closed with inspiration while he spoke of the healing powers and diseases that science has not been able to cure.

That man was a yerbatero, of the few that remain, to better contextualize, the yerbateros are those people who have ancestral medical knowledge and how to identify and prepare medicines to cure a number of diseases. A few years ago he traveled to the Amazon state that borders Brazil and Colombia and as its name indicates is part of the majestic and imposing Amazon jungle, natural lung of the planet and where internationally renowned laboratories extract plants and buy recipes from the aborigines and then manufacture medicines that sell at exorbitant prices that only the middle and upper classes can have the privilege of buying.

It is interesting how in Venezuela, for example, a country with immense jungles does not have Botanica's degree in its university chairs, something very suspicious. It is also interesting how the main laboratories have offices in that state in order to follow closely the aboriginal groups that are knowers par excellence of the benefits of plants in the organism.

The reality is that after 500 years the cultural roots and ancestral savars have been overshadowed and practically disappeared thanks to cultural imposition, we have forgotten how to heal ourselves, we have forgotten our origins. It is sad to see many aboriginal ethnicities dependent on the Western health system because they do not know how to be cured. Many scholars try to glorify science as the one responsible for the existence of effective medicine, medicine that they extract from plants and that many times systematize i.e. we are not even cured with plants, it is artificial chemical modifications that resemble nature that can cure an infection or a common cold.

With this article I intend to keep alive the flame of those yerbateros who are still fighting to keep alive an ancestral tradition.

People forget that most medicines had their roots in plants. Makes you wonder what wonderful cures are still waiting to be found in nature. Thanks for the great article.

That's right, my friend, we forget our roots and depend on buying drugs from big corporations.
