Playing Rolling in the deep and its Analysis

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

A rather tasteful theme for different types of listeners, certainly a good choice for multiple musical tastes.

Now let's go with a little analysis and opinion:
"Rolling in the deep" tells the story of a woman who is totally in love with her boyfriend. His love is so great that it doesn't allow him to see what's happening in reality. In her mind, the girl thinks she can trust her partner. He thinks he takes care of his back; who is a person he can always count on. However, over time, her reason (which is described as a fire inside) begins to move her away from that darkness to the point where she can see the full picture.

Once the protagonist sees the man as he is, she realizes that he has lied to her, betrayed him and played with his heart. She senses that he is a ruined man who never thought of his feelings. The truth leaves her full of wounds, that all they do is remind her of that beautiful image she had, but which she could not reach. Inside, she knows that they could both become happy. However, that will never happen. The memory of everything that has happened takes her breath away. Gradually it sinks deeper into depression. Immersed in sadness, all she can feel are her tears rolling down her cheeks; as well as a feeling of vengeance that grows in his soul.

Eventually, the girl finds a way to get ahead. She decides to walk away from man's life and continue her own path, because (despite all the suffering and pain) she does not keep any story worth telling or remembering. Before leaving completely, the woman wants to reach a goal.

What she wants is to destroy that man; to pieces it to the degree to which he wishes he had never met her.

That revenge will happen when the boy sees that being a womanizer doesn't make him happy. At that moment you will understand that what you are looking for always had with the girl who broke her heart. She will feel empty and long for what she lived with the protagonist. She will become the bitter story that will haunt him on his nights of greatest despair. He'll want to rip his head off. This time, he will be the one who sinks into depression and feels his tears rolling down his cheeks.

The man will reach a point where he will again look for the protagonist. However, she will have overcome it and will be filled with a happiness that she will not seek to share with him. In the song, the girl asks the man not to underestimate her because her ex-partner's remorse is something she's going to end up passing through. In a way, the boy will be paid with the same coin, staying with all the pain he once sowed (You pay me back in kind and reap just what you sow).

Music Analysis:

"Rolling in the deep" presents a steady rhythm throughout the song. This is marked, at the beginning, by the guitar, and then supplied by the drums. However, in the rest of the melody, the instrument with the greatest load is the piano, which executes what several call "martial rhythm". This would be nothing without the company of background voices, which complements it perfectly.

Another detail that is important to highlight is Adele's great voice, which reaches certain high notes that allow the audience to feel the pain she seeks to convey with the lyrics.

Analysis of the historical context:

"Rolling in the deep" belongs to "21", the second album by British singer Adele. This was his first success to reach No. 1 in the United States. On February 12, 2012, the song won 3 Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Short-Form Music Video.

The song was written by Adele and Paul Epworth. The singer commented that at first she was not very willing to work with Epworth, as the musical style of both is very different. However, Epworth helped the British woman increase her vocal confidence, reaching scores she never thought was possible. In an interview with "Rolling Stone," Adele mentioned that the term "Rolling in the deep" is based on the British "Roll Deep" jargon which means having someone watch your back. That was a feeling she felt with her ex-boyfriend, but she later realized it wasn't real.
