Facing fear ~ Enfrentando el temor
Sometimes, in life, we have to deal with our own fears. It may be that these fears have been hidden for a long time, silent, unnoticed over time, but they have been there and we do not realize their presence, until something makes them emerge and then they show themselves as invincible giants, who oppress us in such a way, that it is difficult for us to breathe.
When this happens, our mind parades endless negative thoughts, that if we are spiritually not well fed, and strengthened emotionally, we could collapse.
Fear and despair attack the mind, and if we allow it to take terrain, they will make us feel totally helpless and incapable of overcoming them. But thank God, this is just a feeling and NOT the reality, because the truth is that God has given us the weapons to face and fight in this battle.
We can receive attacks from the enemy in our mind, God through his Word has given us a detailed information of the forms of attack of our enemy, has made us known the work of Satan who walks like a "roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1st pedro 5: 8).
But we must know this ...
- That the powers of the evil one have already been defeated, (1 John 3: 8)
- That defeat happened on the cross of Calvary, (Hebrews 2:14)
- It was not a partial defeat, but a total one. The Lord stripped him of everything, he defeated him completely. (Colossians 2:15)
- The supreme and sovereign authority has always had our Lord (Philippians 2: 9-11)
- The Victory of Christ is our victory (Ephesians 2: 6)
No son of God is capable by itself of contending with this terrible enemy. Only through Jesus Christ can we overcome him. The Word of God tells us:
Strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in the power of His strength (Ephesians 6:10).

So, if at any time we feel fear for any circumstance, or if those fears that may be hidden in our mind surface; Let us not be anxious, it does not matter if we are weak or faint, because it is not about being strong in ourselves, but about being strong in the Lord. Christ defeated Satan, and we must be strong in Him.
In Revelation 12:11 we can read about the "overcomers," that is, those who overcame Satan; and is talking about a time transferred to the future but that is a truth "today". Right there he tells us the key to this victory, which consists of three elements:
(1) by the blood of the Lamb,
(2) by the word of his testimony;
(3) and for not having loved their lives until death
The Lord Jesus has not only freed us from the power of our enemies, but He Himself in His victory and resurrection lives in us. We can be winners! The Bible says:
Little children, you are of God, and you have overcome them; for (Christ) is greater in you than he who is in the world (Satan) (1 John 4: 4).
So, my friends, let us not be deceived because of our fears, because Christ, our Lord, already defeated him on the cross, and the only thing that we have to do is to go forward with faith and full trust in him.
It's not bad to feel fear sometimes, but we should never allow that fear hold us down and stop us from trusting God. Fear is one of the strongest instrument of satan that blinds our eyes from seeing the victory God has granted to us through christ. We must not allow it hold us to ransom.
