DailyCelestialChallenge: Wednesday - Structures

in #celestialchallenge8 years ago (edited)

Hello dear family of "Celestial challenge" and dear friends of Steemchurch ...

It is for me a true pleasure and a great blessing to be able to share with all of you something of what I have received in my life. God has been wonderful and allowed me to meet the community "Steemit", then reading some posts, I discovered that there was the "Daily Celestial Challenge" of @sirknight and since then I try to participate as many days as possible in their challenges; and for greater blessing, a few days ago I met the community "steemchurch" and I love knowing what God is doing in other places and in other people with different cultures and lifestyles but with one element in common: "The God's Love".

As everyone knows, today is WEDNESDAY and on this day we celebrate the great achievements of man, including buildings, engineering, transport and architecture; and that is why my topic for today is referred to an old structural element. . .

The angular stone

In the past, there were no structural systems as we know them today; At that time, there were no materials that could support bending, as is the case with metallic elements that for modern times are steel bars or rods; so the man devised resources for structural support, and one of them was the stone arch where the main point was a long rectangular shaped stone placed throughout the center. Since then it could be said that the cornerstone, in architecture and engineering, is the stone that is located right in the upper center of an arch and thanks to it this remains stable.
In the same way, in the construction of the great buildings and ancient temples, we will realize that the Angular Stone was also used as a base or building foundation; therefore, from this point we could define the Cornerstone as the base or foundation of a building, whose starting point is a corner or the union between two walls that form a right angle. It is a structural element of parallelepiped shape or rectangular block that was used in the first constructive systems of antiquity in two predominant ways :

  • a.- As a foundation for the foundation or foundation of a building, where it served as a guide or reference for the establishment of the remaining stones.

source

  • b.- As an element of rigidity of the building, so it was placed in a corner to hold or join in an interlaced way, two walls arranged at right angles, or as structural support in the form of an arch.

Jesus Christ, the cornerstone of the church . . .

As well as in architecture and engineering, the cornerstone is what sustains and gives stability to a building, Christ is the Foundation "and the main stone on which the church must be secured and sustained.

Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Isaiah 28:16
