In memory of Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott
Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul started Pantera in 1981.,and till' their breakup in 2003. Pantera was one of the best, biggest and heaviest metal bands.
After breakup they founded new band Damageplan, and record an album called New Found Power released in 2004.
And they go on the promotional tour, playing mostly clubs and smaller places.
Then came that fatal concert in Columbus,Ohio on 8.12.2004.
I'll come back later to this concert, now i'm shift in Zagreb on that same day.My friends and i was at the Machine Head concert,so happy and excited to finally see them live and enjoy in every minute of the show.
Day after concert we were in train and going home when one call turn our happiness to sadness and shock.
Call which telling us that Dimebag was dead, killed on a stage last night.
You can literally see in our faces that it's so hard to believe in that news, but sadly it was truth.
Damegaplan just started a show in Columbus,it's been hardly two minutes pass when an sick deranged ex american marine Nathan Gale climbed on a stage an shot five bullets in back of Dimebag's head.
He killed three people besides Dime and wounded seven.
Police officer who first arrived shot Gale with shotgun and stop bloodshed.
Metal world lost his most beloved member, among fans and musicians.Darrell was without competition best guitarist in last 30 years, and i think that all his colleagues from metal community will confirm my words.
Dime was buried in his home town Arlington, beside his mom in Kiss coffin with Charvel Hybrid VH2 guitar of Eddie Van Halen, his main role model.
Many fellow musicians paid their respect to Dime with songs and albums, but to me song In This River by Black Label Society is ultimate one, written and sang by his best friend Zakk Wylde.
So listen to some Pantera, light a joint in Dimebag's honor, brilliant guitarist, songwriter, loyal to his fans, man with big heart and even bigger talent.
R.I.P. our brother,13 years just flew by.
For the end beautiful, emotional song In This River.
A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?
