Supalicious Binignit ala @arashikawaii
Hello dear Steemians! Today, I am going to share how I prepared and cooked my "Supalicious (Super Delicious) Binignit ala @arashikawaii".
BINIGNIT is actually on of the the many Filipino delicacies. This one is commonly served during the "Holy Week" particularly during "Good Friday" which is today. This week is the time of the year when Filipinos, especially Catholics, celebrate a religious observance or tradition. Anyway, going back to the delicacy, it is basically commonly served in the Visayas. And below is my own version of this delicacy or dish.
The Ingredients
- 2 large coconut (grated)
- 3 cups sticky rice
- 2 pcs. yam (ube)
- 3/4 kg sweet potato (camote)
- 8 pcs. banana plantain (cardaba
- 3 small packs sago (in a variety of colors)
- 1 cup jackfruit
- 1/2 kg. brown sugar
- 1 1/2 L of water
Preparation
- Prepare all the ingredients listed above.
- Put 2 cups of water to the grated coconut. Squeeze the grated coconut to have a creamy coconut milk. Strain and set it aside.
- Using the same grated coconut, pour around 1 1/2 liter of water on it. Strain and put it in a clean container then set it aside.
- Wash the sweet potatoes and yam, peel and slice them into small cubes.
- Peel and slice the banana plantain into small cubes as well.
- Remove the jackfruit seeds and prepare the jackfruit flesh into strips.
- Wash and strain the cooked sago.
- Wash and strain the sticky rice.
Cooking
- Pour the second squeezed coconut milk into a big pot. Put it on the stove under low heat.
- When it simmers a bit, put in the sticky rice and occasionally stir it.
- Then, put in the cubed yam and sweet potato. Mix and stir it thoroughly.
- Pour in brown sugar into the mix and stir.
- When the yam and sweet potato are a little tender, put in the banana, sago and add more brown sugar in accordance to your taste.
- Continue stirring and put in the stripped jackfruit flesh.
- Lastly, pour in the first squeezed-out coconut milk. Let it simmer for a few minutes or until all the mixed ingredients are cooked.
- And now, we're all ready to serve the "Supalicious Binignit ala @arashikawaii"
Don't forget the plating! I hope you enjoy this recipe and please try it out when you get the chance.
