A variety of different security technologies can truly provide organizations with more situational awareness than they have ever had before. Biometric access control devices are being purchased to increase the reliability of access control. Then, turnstiles are integrated with these biometric access control systems and security cameras. All of the data from these devices can then be stored in video management systems which provide a host of different data analytic capabilities. The extraction of data from numerous security technology platforms allows the end user to answer key questions that may not even be related to security but provide great incite for security directors. Analysis of the never-ending security data captures critical aspects of the day to day functioning of an organization. Each organization has a different mission and overall instate, but security is important to ensure that these organizations can generate revenue at the end of the day.

When interviewing security technology vendors, it is important to have the vendor demonstrate how the technology will address the threats or vulnerabilities that are unique to your organization. The vendor may have all kinds of amazing solutions, but that doesn't matter if they do not fit your needs. It is hard to understand this without identifying what the vulnerabilities are.
