Midsummer closing in HARD

In Finland midsummer is a big reason to celebrate. And by celebrating, I'm talking about drinking too much and eating way too much. In Finland, it is called Juhannus. It's not a time to relax and have fun, actually, as I know the reasons why we are drinking.

Imagine, everybody in your family going to the family cottage for 3-4 days. Everybody bringing their own kids and if they play well together, it's just that they'll come up with pranks together. Nobody is actually happy.

Most likely it'll be one of the coldest weeks in the summer. On many occasions, this "midsummer" fest has been colder than Christmas. One more reason to drink.

However, I'm opening up a bit of personal life of mine. I have one reason for stress. We'll be 5 days straight on our summer house, which is on an island. It 's a small boat and we have our son with us. There is no fresh water, so we'll bring all clothes, food and drinking water with us. Our boat will be waayyyy too loaded for this trip. I'm writing this at work, otherwise I'd add more pictures of the boat and/or our island.

Usually all is ok on nice weather, but we might have some wind. If it's windy from the wrong direction, we're usually screwed, as the small boat which is a bit overloaded is not fun to drive while we're in strong wind and big waves. And what is the best of all, our boat route is going through a place which looks like this:

All those markings are either underwater rocks or rocks typically visible. It's ok in good weather, but I hope you can see when the waves and wind will become a problem.

This is why some of us drink. Everything fun is dangerous.
