Pencil
Either lead, thick or thin, a pencil is a convenient tool for writing especially drawing. You know why? Because it has a special tool that makes it substantial. That special tool is an eraser where we can erase anything we write or draw and it will not leave any lead marks on the paper. When we started schooling, we were only allowed to use pencils because, in that way, we can easily erase any mistakes on the writing or drawings we did. As a child, we are allowed to make mistakes and at the same time, we were allowed to make amendments in case we make an error and learn from it. As a child, we thought that it’s okay to make a mistake as we can easily erase it that’s why most people find it hard to escape from this stage as it’s the safest zone.
And so the trial and error happen for few years until maturity sinks in. Writing your life using a pencil is a safe way to escape from negative feedback from other people. You’re in your comfort zone and a mistake is an easy move to be erased. However, this is immaturity and being coward towards any outcome.
Permanent Pen
We realized that as older we grow, permanent pen is what we use. Which has become intransigent as making any mistake will be difficult to erase. Life being an adult is being written by a permanent pen where expectations from our peers become higher and higher as we grew older. The room to make a mistake is very less as we are being looked up to. The expectations that have been expected from us are the result of how we overcome our trials and errors when we were young. Though we used white inks to erase the mistakes we made, we still find the marks of our error. And in case we make one, we are being judged of its marks. However, choosing to write your life using a permanent pen is a mature action and a bravery of not being scared to whatever the outcome. Hence, choosing your life to be written using a permanent pen is choosing to write it in a perfect way to avoid any mistakes or regrets.
I was once told by our Pastor that things will keep on happening over and over again until you change your way on how to deal it. It will only stop when you solved that problem with values.
