Landscape. Field and clouds

 I continue to improve my drawing technique with watercolor ... and learn new techniques. Today I will tell you how to make highlights on the clouds. For this, I need a paper knife. 

 I paint with watercolor "Nevskaya Palitra": blue, ultramarine, ocher yellow, pink quinacridone. green, cadmium yellow medium, sepia. Paper Palazzo 280g / m2, 70% cotton.

First of all, I mark the future landscape on the sheet. About two-thirds of the sheet will occupy the sky, and one-third of a small field.

I'm starting to draw from the sky. I take the blue and ultramarine and close the surface of the paper. From dark shade to light from top to bottom. And on a wet paper with a napkin I wipe future clouds. If the sky dries - I can not remove the paint.

As  the sky dries up, I turn to the bottom of the sheet: I draw a blue  forest with a drop of pink quinacridon forest in the background. Then I take ocher and cadmium yellow and I plan a far field. I add to the already existing mixture of blue and draw part of the far field. I add more green and I plan bushes. Then I take the green with yellow and add the field in the foreground, trying to change the shade of the paint. And with a dark color from the palette I paint the grass in the foreground.

Now I return to the sky. I'm hindering the blue with the pink and adding shadows to the clouds. The picture is almost finished, now I have only to add contrasting white clouds. For this, I take a paper clerk. I put the blade perpendicular to the paper and move from right to left to remove the paint layer. Than the paper is drier - the easier it is to remove the paint. When finished with bright spots on the clouds, I realized that there are not enough transitions from dark to light. And added them.

It was quite an interesting experiment, there are contrasts, but I did not like this option. In addition to the layer of paint, a layer of paper is also removed. Not critical, but I did not like it. Maybe with another paper (for example, 100% cotton), would this technique behave differently? It should be checked))) And you met such a method of adding white to work?
