A Living Rainbow

in #friend8 years ago

I had a friend, his name is Blake and he's my classmate. He dresses up like a man but walks as a girl. He was older than mine. He talks like a brother but act as my sister. He is similar to us but the society treats him differently.

One day, Blake and I had a conversation and he told me his story. Blake comes from a broken family and he thinks that he's the one why his parents broke up and left him. He said that living without parents is a difficult situation but he keeps himself strong and far from loneliness even though he wants to give up. He added that his childhood became his worst experience that I could not ever imagine. After his parent's broke up, he was forced to adopt by his uncle. And his uncle became very strict and cruel to him knowing that he's a gay. There is a time wherein his uncle punched and kicked him because it was drunk and deppressed. It still happen until he could not resist it anymore. Then, the perfect time came when he got his bag and leave his uncle's house. He walked along to his auntie's house, the sister of her mother. There, they treated Blake as part of their family. They always give him food to eat, and room for him to take rest. He said that he was blessed for having them. His was even sent to school by his auntie, that's why we became classmates.

He felt emotional that time when he ended up his story. All I did was to comfort him as his friend. He talks to me once more before he ended up our conversation.

Blake is kind man. He doesn't care what the other students said to him. He had always experience being bullied but, he was taking it as his inspiration to achieve more in his life. I'm very proud of him, as his classmate and as his friend. Now, I'm wondering where he is. What could be his job right now? Or is he in a relationship? And if yes, I will pray that they will last forever and he will take care of Blake.

Blake becomes my mentor in life. He teaches me how to be brave while having those challenges and criticisms in life. He became my clown that throw away some jokes when I am in the middle of sadness. He became my study buddy when we have an upcoming exam. He became my 'sister' who supported me althroughout while we are still studying.

He is my idol. And, Yes! He is a gay, a part of the LGBTQA+ community but, he is my friend and no one can deny the fact that he is still part of our growing society. Blake is a living rainbow, the best representation of happiness that appears after the rain that puts us in the midst of loneliness.
