IMPOSSIBLE SHAPES
A gallery of my works regarding impossible geometric shapes.
An impossible object (also known as an impossible figure or an undecidable figure) is a type of optical illusion. It consists of a two-dimensional figure which is instantly and subconsciously interpreted by the visual system as representing a projection of a three-dimensional object.
We have seen that some common depth cues can make two-dimensional figures seem to represent three-dimensional objects.
This happens despite the mind's realization that the figure is impossible. The illusion often persists even when the mind knows the explanation.
