Finally, the series that will contribute most of the plot to the giant crossover of the CW superhero universe has begun and in what way! Last Season Recap.

Last season Arrow was developed abruptly between events of the future and the present with the current Arrow team, we no longer had the typical Oliver Flashbacks where we saw how his life was before returning to his life in Starling City, now the flashbacks are visions of the future where we have the children of the actual characters solve all kinds of problems. Finally, last season we saw Oliver getting out of jail and acting as a well-known vigilante, his identity was no longer something he hid and on the contrary a weak spot that diminished his actions.

In the previous season the whole focus of the story was on a new criminal organization led by Oliver's sister, a sister who wanted to hurt him and who was constantly planning attacks against Oliver and his team as revenge for the treatment that Oliver's father gave her as a child, a man who never engaged with her as a father and who instead dedicated himself to pushing her aside, while concentrating all his attention on Oliver and Thea. Basically Arrow's main story last season was focused on the revenge rush of a sister of Oliver who was determined to destroy him and take over the criminal world of Star City, however, in the end, everything ends badly for her, as expected.

The shock of the season came when the conflicts were resolved and Oliver decides to abandon Arrow's mantle and focus on his family, take care of them and keep them safe, however everything takes an incredible turn when The Monitor arrives to claim Oliver's promise made during Elseworld, a promise that will make him abandon his family and potentially commit his life to the salvation of the universe. An ending that predicted what was to come in the Infinite Crisis.

Arrow - Starling City (S08E01)

The chapter begins almost without explanation with Oliver back in Lian Yu waiting to be rescued to return to Starling City and recover his life, however we quickly realize that this time Oliver is not in the same universe or on the same Earth as before, this time he is on an alternate Earth where he will have to fulfill a very important mission for The Monitor, a mission necessary to help the entire universe to save itself. Yes, friends in this series, the Multiverse is a constant element in the plots. In this alternate Earth there is already an Arrow that teams up with a Black Canary, besides Oliver's mother has not died and Malcolm Merlyn is not evil, in short a similar universe but that has elements and characters developed differently.

Returning to what interests us, in this Earth Oliver will have to fight against the Black Archer to recover the nucleus that gives power to the Atom's suit, but it won't be easy because Oliver will find different difficulties when facing the villains without the help of his usual team. This is a chapter that gives us great emotion, as we can see again Oliver's interaction with his mother and his old friend Tommy, also this is a chapter that serves to give us an idea of how the development of this season will be, now Oliver has no Earth to live on, now must be dedicated to fulfill the missions that The monitor gives him while the day of crisis arrives.

In general a chapter very well achieved that manages to give us a sneak peek at what's to come, a chapter with a somewhat fast plot rhythm as it has much to show us and perhaps that's why it feels rushed and badly composed, but an entertaining chapter at the end.
